To apply, you need to:• Have a goal to live more independently, including using
assistive technology• Be able to live well in a home with a housemate• Be aged between 18 and 64 • Have a significant impairment in mobility requiring the
use of a wheelchair• Require regular 1:1 supports for more than
5 hours a day• Require specialist home design features such as ceiling
hoist or accessibility• Require a person to be on-site or available throughout
the day• Have, or be likely to have SDA funding in your NDIS
plan at High Physical Support design category
If you are considered a suitable applicant, before moving in, you will need to:
• Have confirmed SDA funding in your NDIS plan at High Physical Support design category
• Agree to have some shared support needs delivered via a nominated Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider
• Be willing to uphold your responsibilities associated with a residential tenancy agreement, such as paying a reasonable rent contribution (RRC)
• Agree to share the home with a housemate. If you are considered a suitable tenant, the Summer Foundation will support you to choose your housemate (you can find out more by speaking with the team at the Summer Foundation)
Amity Narangba is designed for two tenants to optimise both independence and companionship. As such, you must enjoy the company of others and want to live with a housemate.
It may be possible that some of the homes can accommodate the person with disability living with a family member (without a disability).
It may also be possible that some of the homes can accommodate two housemates who do not have SDA funding at the same design category.
