Directors’ note
Our story begins in a broken-down town full of broken-down people - scratch that - Our story begins 8 months ago when we began the process of casting and creating our biennial school musical. Having worked together previously at university we knew that we wanted to approach the musical with the same dedication, creativity and level of professionalism that we have experienced in our artistic careers. With a cast of almost 500 people, incredible staff and student-built set and props, a kaleidoscope of colourful costumes, foot-tapping music and exceptional vocals and choreography, our interpretation of All Shook Up combines the classic Shakespearean trope of fantastical storylines, mistaken identity, star-crossed lovers and the hypnotic power of love with the timeless appeal of The King’s greatest hits. Taking narrative elements from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, the show combines two cultural giants. Though it’s been a long process with countless rehearsals, sleepless nights and excessive caffeine consumption, we could not Help Falling in Love with this show and we know you will get the Burning Love for it as well.
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with such dedicated staff and students to create a production that not only upholds the very core of our school values but also affirms our philosophy of acceptance and following your dreams.
Get ready to laugh, get ready to cry, get ready to dance. Get ready for Indooroopilly State High School’s All Shook Up.
