Cos’è il sistema a marchio D-air® Street / What is the D-air® Street system?

Il sistema a marchio D-air® Street è un ”Dispositivo di protezione individuale” innovativo per la sicurezza dei motociclisti certifi cato CE. Esso è composto da due distinte unità: una prima unità composta da sensori e componenti elettroniche già installate sul veicolo, a cui è demandato il compito di riconoscere le condizioni di crash e di caduta della motocicletta, e una seconda unità elettronica integrata al capo che ha il compito di attivare un dispositivo di protezione air-bag integrato al capo di abbigliamento Giacca/Gilet. La Giacca/Gilet con il sistema a marchio D-air® Street può essere indossato dal guidatore della moto e dal passeggero.

The D-air® Street system is innovative ”Personal Protective Equipment” for the safety of motorcycle riders with EC certifi cation. It comprises two separate units: a fi rst unit comprising sensors and electronic components already installed on the vehicle, designed to recognize the conditions during a crash and fall of the motorbike, and a second electronic unit integrated in the garment, which triggers an airbag protective device fi tted in the Jacket/Vest. The Jacket/Vest with the D-air® system can be worn by both the rider and the passenger of the motorbike.

In sintesi, per effettuare il test di certifi cazione secondo lo standard europeo EN 1621.2, un corpo che si chiama “IMPATTATORE” viene fatto cadere sulla protezione. Il peso dell’impattatore è di 5 Kg e viene fatto cadere da una altezza di circa 1 m. L’obbiettivo è di avere una energia potenziale di impatto di 50J ( Joule ). L’impattatore viene lasciato cadere sopra al paraschiena in punti prestabiliti. Il paraschiena a sua volta poggia su una incudine che ha al suo interno una cella di carico. L’energia residua dopo l’impatto viene letta dalla cella di carico e questo valore, opportunamente mediato e fi ltrato, espresso in kN ( chilo newton ) rappresenta la forza che riceverebbe il corpo dell’utente. Sono previsti 5 colpi e il valore fi nale è la media dei valori registrati da questi 5 colpi. Lo standard EN 1621.2 prevede due livelli di certifi cazione per i paraschiena; il livello 1 è assegnato ad un protettore che abbia registrato ai test un valore medio compreso tra 9 kN e 18 kN. Nessuno dei 5 colpi singoli dovrà aver superato i 24 kN. Il livello 2 è assegnato ad un protettore che abbia registrato ai test un valore medio inferiore ai 9 kN. Nessuno dei 5 colpi singoli dovrà aver superato i 12 kN. I test condotti sulla parte pneumatica del sistema a marchio D|AIR® Street (sul sacco air-bag) hanno registrato un valore medio di circa 2.5 kN, quindi ben al di sotto dei limiti imposti dalla EN 1621.2 Livello 2.

Briefl y, to perform the certifi cation test according to European standard EN 1621.2, a body known as “IMPACTOR” is dropped onto the protection. The weight of the impactor is 5 kg and it is dropped from a height of about 1 m. The aim is to obtain a potential impact energy of 50J (Joule). The impactor is dropped onto the back protector in predetermined points. The back protector in turn rests on an anvil with a load cell fi tted internally. The residual energy after the impact is read by the load cell and this value, suitably averaged and fi ltered, expressed in kN (kilonewtons) represents the force that the body of the user would receive. Five blows are performed and the fi nal value is the average of the values recorded by these fi ve blows. The standard EN 1621.2 establishes two levels of certifi cation for back protectors; level 1 is assigned to a protector that registers an average value of between 9 kN and 18 kN during the test. None of the fi ve blows must exceed 24 kN. Level 2 is assigned to a protector that registers an average value of less than 9 kN during the test. None of the fi ve blows must exceed 12 kN. The tests performed on the pneumatic part of the D-air® Street system (the airbag) registered an average value of around 2.5 kN, therefore well below the limits established by Level 2 of EN 1621.2.

Quando protegge il sistema a marchio D-air® Street / When does the D-air® Street protect?

Il sistema di sensori installato sul veicolo monitora costantemente la dinamica dello stesso; le informazioni provenienti dai sensori vengono elaborate dalla centralina e, nel caso in cui i valori registrati superino delle soglie preimpostate, il sistema provvederà a gonfi are il dispositivo airbag.Ecco le condizioni di incidente stradale per le quali è prevista l’attivazione del dispositivo a marchio D-air® Street:- Urto contro ostacolo- Tamponamento- Perdita di controllo con conseguente caduta laterale del veicoloLe condizioni di impatto, urto del motoveicolo (M) contro ostacolo (O), per le quali il dispositivo a marchio D-air® Street ha ricevuto la certifi cazione dall’Organismo Notifi cato TÜV SUD sono descritte nell’immagine a fi anco. In questo caso, il dispositivo a marchio D-air® Street è in grado di riconoscere la condizione di scivolata o caduta e di gonfi are gli airbag rapidamente per proteggere gli utenti (il pilota e il passeggero) solo dal secondo impatto (il pilota colpisce degli ostacoli o altri oggetti circostanti, dopo essere caduto a terra), poiché l’airbag rimane gonfi o per diversi secondi. In questo caso nessuna protezione dal primo impatto può essere data (il pilota urta per prima la strada), poiché la logica di attivazione rileva la condizione di scivolata o caduta e gli airbag si attivano, gonfi andosi completamente, solo dopo che il pilota e il passeggero urtano la strada.Invece, in caso di urto contro un ostacolo, il sistema a marchio D-air® Street protegge sin dal primo impatto.

The sensor system installed on the vehicle constantly monitor its dynamics; information coming from the sensors is processed by the central processing unit and, if the values registered exceed the preset thresholds, the system infl ates the airbag. The road accident conditions during which the D-air® Street Device is triggered are:- impact against an obstacle- collision- loss of control causing the vehicle to fall sidewaysThe conditions of collision, impact of the motor vehicle (M) against an obstacle (O), for which the D-air® Street Device has obtained certifi cation from the Notifi ed Body TÜV SUD are depicted in the fi gure at the side. The angle of impact considered is between 90° and 135°. The actual crash tests which contributed to determining these limits were performed in accordance with standard ISO 13232. A sideways fall or skid is a condition in which motorbikes hit the ground while being driven and remain horizontal in relation to the ground for a certain period of time. In this case, the D-air® Street device is capable of recognizing skidding or falling and rapidly infl ates the airbags to protect the users (driver and passenger) only at the time of the second impact (the driver hits obstacles or other objects in the surrounding area after hitting the ground), as the airbag remains infl ated for several seconds. In this case no protection against the fi rst impact can be provided (the driver impacts the road fi rst) as the triggering logic detects the skid or fall and the airbags are triggered, infl ating completely, only after the driver and passenger hit the road.Alternatively, in case of impact against an obstacle, the D-air® Street system protects right from initial impact.

The Device fi tted in the Jacket/Vest is equipped with a remote on/off system on the right-hand side of the strip. The device contains a vibra motor, which communicates the operating status of the Jacket/Vest through coded vibrations. The on/off system of the Jacket/Vest has a cursor (E) on the front, used to switch the Jacket/Vest Device on or off: in the top position (I) the cursor (E) switches on the Device, while in the bottom position (O) it switches off the Device. Two symbols on the side indicate the status of the on/off system of the Jacket/Vest:- (I) System on- (O) System offImportant: the system is only operational with the device switched on.

Inserimento Sim card / Inserting the Sim card

Per poter effettuare correttamente il riconoscimento tra le due componenti del sistema a marchio D-air® Street, quella montata sulla moto e quella presente su Giacca/Gilet, è necessario inserire la SIM CARD all’interno dell’apposito alloggiamento presente sulla Giacca/Gilet. Per inserire la SIM CARD aprire lo sportellino in gomma ed infi lare la card nell’apposito alloggiamento. Assieme alla moto MS1200s Abs a marchio D-air® Street verranno consegnate due SIM CARD, una per il pilota e una per il passeggero. Attenzione: pilota e passeggero hanno SIM CARD diverse.

Insert the SIM CARD into the slot on the Jacket/Vest for correct identifi cation between the two components of the D-air® Street system: the one mounted on the motorbike and the one fi tted to the Jacket/Vest. To insert the SIM CARD open the rubber cover and insert the card in the dedicated slot. Two SIM CARDS, one for the driver and one for the passenger, will be supplied together with the D-air® Street MS1200s Abs motorbike. IMPORTANT: driver and passenger have different SIM CARDS.

Ricarica della giacca / Charging the jacket

Il sistema a marchio D-air® Street è alimentato da un pacco batterie che garantiscono una autonomia di 30 ore. Per ricaricare la batteria, connettere il cavo USB fornito in dotazione al prodotto con il connettore posto nella placca integrata al capo. Lasciare in carica per circa 5 ore. Il caricabatteria deve essere collegato ad una comune presa di corrente domestica (230Vac a 50Hz); accertarsi che le prese di corrente in uso corrispondano a questi requisiti. Il sistema può essere ricaricato da un presa USB da computer.

The D-air® Street system is powered by a battery pack that guarantees 30 hours of autonomy. In order to charge the battery, connect the USB cable supplied with the product to the connector positioned inside the plate integrated in the garment. Leave the battery to charge for around 5 hours. The battery charger should be connected to a normal domestic socket (230Vac at 50Hz); check that the sockets used comply with these requirements. The system may be charged from a computer USB port.

Procedura di Pairing del dispositivo D-air® posto sulla vostra Giacca/Gilet con il sistema D- Air® della moto.Le SIM CARD devono essere inserite nell’apposito alloggiamento presente sulla vostra Giacca/Gilet prima di accendere il Sistema D-air® come descritto al paragrafo “Sistema di accensione e spegnimento del Dispositivo D-air® su Giacca/Gilet”. Una volta compiuta l’operazione di inserimento della SIM CARD, avvicinarsi al veicolo e portare la chiave di accensione in posizione di ON: non è necessario avviare il motore, è richiesta la sola alimentazione del Sistema tramite la batteria del motoveicolo. Il sistema montato sulla vostra moto effettuerà una procedura automatica di booting (accensione) della durata di qualche secondo. Se il sistema non rileva errori, la spia RIDER (11) e/o la spia PASSENGER (13) nei primi 30 secondi dopo il Key-On o fi no a quano non viene collegata almeno una giacca, lampeggia in modo veloce per ricordare di collegare la rispettiva giacca RIDER e/o PASSENGER. Accendere il sistema posto sulla vostra Giacca/Gilet posizionando il cursore presente sulla fascia del capo di abbigliamento su “I”. Se la fase di associazione (Pairing) di una Giacca/Gilet RIDER si è svolta correttamente la spia RIDER (11) rimane accesa in modo fi sso. Diventa attiva la funzione del display “Indicazione Stato Batterie delle Giacche Airbag” che visualizza lo stato di carica delle batterie del dispositivo presente nella Giacca/Gilet RIDER. Analogamente, se la fase di associazione (Pairing) di una Giacca/Gilet PASSENGER si è svolta correttamente la spia PASSENGER (13) rimane accesa in modo fi sso. Diventa attiva la funzione del display “Indicazione Stato Batterie delle Giacche Airbag” che visualizza lo stato di carica delle batterie del dispositivo presente nella Giacca/Gilet PASSENGER.

D-air® pairing procedure. The SIM CARDS must be inserted in the relevant slots on your jacket/waistcoat before turning the D-air® system on as described in the paragraph “D-air® turning on and off on jacket/waistcoat”. After inserting the SIM CARD, go to the vehicle and turn the key to ON: it is not necessary to start the engine. The system installed on your bike will perform an automatic booting procedure that takes a few seconds. If the system does not detect errors, the RIDER (11) and/or PASSENGER (13) warning light/s blink/s quickly for the fi rst 30 seconds after Key-on or until at least one jacket is connected to remind the user to connect the RIDER and/or PASSENGER jacket. Move the slider on the garment band to “I” to turn on the system in your jacket/waistcoat. If the RIDER jacket/waistcoat pairing has succeeded, the RIDER warning light (11) remains steady on. The function “Airbag jacket battery status indication” is automatically displayed to show the battery status of the system installed in the RIDER jacket/waistcoat. Likewise, if the PASSENGER jacket/waistcoat pairing has succeeded, the PASSENGER warning light (13) remains steady on. The function “Airbag jacket battery status indication” is automatically displayed to show the battery status of the system installed in the PASSENGER jacket/waistcoat.
