Light + Building 2014 came to an end a few days ago, hence our decision to review Hess‘s trade fair presentation in the form of a Special LIGHTLETTER. Our objective is to share with you the many exciting impressions and product highlights.

Light + Building 2014! We worked tirelessly on this trade fair to bring you, our customers, the best that Hess can offer, and it truly was a premiere event. We presented completely new product families, as well as a variety of technical innovations and updates. Now that the fair is over, we can proudly say that all the hard work over the last few months has been more than worth it: We positively surprised visitors with our new VAREDO product family, our product previews DALVIK and KEILA, as well as the new AVANGARDO 2 products. And we won them over with the multi-functionality of the CITY ELEMENTS illuminating column and the technical re-launch of a variety of other products.

You can enjoy a vivid presentation of the VAREDO- Program on video. Furthermore, we have another video on customized solutions waiting for you, in addition to a virtual tour of our stand.

We also have new editions of our catalogues. Three in total, and hot off the press! „LIGHTING“, „SITE FURNISHINGS“ and „AVANGARDO 2“. Everything required for the design of urban spaces and to give free rein to our customers‘ creativity.

A full house at the Hess stand - Every day of the trade fair. That was Light + Building 2014. We are very proud about that. The new stand concept worked. With its simulated room-like area our „open“ trade fair stand made visitors feel welcome to step inside and engage in dialogue.

We can say with complete confidence: The concept worked - the trade fair was a resounding success. Hess has acquired more trade fair contacts this year than ever before. But quantity is only one side of the coin. Much more important than sheer number of contacts is the quality of the discussions and the resulting inquiries. In total, the show was excellent.

Unique designs, lasting quality, durability, reliability and state-of-the-art LED technology. That is AVANGARDO 2. A total of 15 luminaire families are available for buildings and adjacent areas. Each luminaire family is comprised of several product groups – ranging from in-ground and wall luminaires to illuminating bollards – in an integrated and holistic design.

The CITY ELEMENTS present themselves in a new light. In LED light. These multifunctional columns are available with complete LED technology.

Here special focus is placed on very high and stable light quality (XICATO inside). Additionally, diverse functions and supply solutions for urban requirements make these columns particularly attractive. As an example of multifunctionality, Hess exhibited an illuminating column complete with camera module, wireless transmission to a mobile device, electricity and water connection and a GOBO element.

SPECIAL SOLUTIONS Characteristic for Hess

Hess presented one of the company‘s particularly special qualities. Project specific and customized (lighting) solutions. SPECIAL luminaires, SPECIAL finishes, SPECIAL colours, and SPECIAL glass. Everything is possible. Using the example of an installed special luminaire project for the city of Doha (Qatar), Hess documented the impressive combination of traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology.

DALVIK

Elegant and versatile pole luminaireThe Dalvik is a new, sophisticated, and versatile LED pole luminaire. Despite its plane design and compact structure, all the technology is contained within a light module. Dalvik offers a very high degree of variability. A variety of mounting adapters allow for installation on poles with diameters ranging from 76 to 300 mm. The adapters ensure a successful and consistent transition of the luminaire heads to the poles. Additional flexibility is provided by various light modules.

The luminaires can be configured differently according to the lighting requirement. A single pole can be fitted with up to five Dalvik luminaires, addressing virtually every lighting situation. The special architecture of the luminaire is emphasized by an integrated ambient light impressively also by night.

Within the framework of a press conference, Hess‘s manage-ment team put forward the company‘s strategic direction under the Nordeon Group umbrella, the latest generation of products as well as integrated LED lighting and design concepts for urban spaces.

Pierre van Lamsweerde, CEO of the Nordeon Group and Managing Director of Hess, clearly set forth the company‘s mission. With its products and solutions Hess wants to design

cities, communities, and public places, render them more attractive, promote a sense of well-being and create atmosphere. By day and by night.

With the company motto “We design cities” Hess is pursuing four strategic directions: Innovation, people, international expansion, and „Made in Germany“.

Innovatively and progressively designed outdoor luminaireThe luminaire Keila architecturally breaks fresh ground. It becomes a highlight through its iconic character and a more than clear and distinct design. Despite its plane shape and compact structure, all the technology is taken together as one unit in a light module.

Beyond its sophisticated design, both luminaires are characterized by using latest LED technology with maximum energy-efficiency. The intelligent light control system, DimPro, further improves energy-efficiency and links the luminaires with each other.
