Preserving Hammond: An African American Community Scan-A-Thon!Saturday, May 18, from 1-3 p.m. Hammond community members from African American backgrounds may join HPL’s Local History Librarian Amanda Aguilera for an afternoon scanning ses-
sion. Please bring 1-3 of your favorite family heirlooms (photographs, docu-ments, or similar) and have them pro-fessionally scanned. You will receive a flash drive with your copies, as well as have the opportunity to "donate" a digi-tal copy of your photograph to HPL's historical online database.

Youth Services Librarians are busy planning and promoting Summer Reading, which begins June 1. Early Literacy Programs will return next month.
General Programs
Monthly Movie (Ages: 6 years to 13 years)Wednesday, May 8 at 4 p.m. The Lion King, Follow the journey of a lion cub, Simba, as he meets new friends along the way. Closed Captioning will be used, and snacks will be provided while supplies last.
Lit to Be Fit (Ages: 6 years to 13 years) Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The library is great to exercise your brain, but what about the rest of your body? Join us to get fit and have fun with Miss Liz!
In-Between Book Discussion (Ages: 10 years to 13 years) Monday, May 6 at 4 p.m. Join us this month to discuss Lost and Found by Andrew Clements. Books are available for checkout at Circulation Services.
