Shibori Dying Techniques (Ages 15+) Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan

Shibori is the ancient Japanese style of resist dying using binding techniques. Explore different techniques of resist dying such as stitching (touch of mokume), pole wrapping, binding, and clamping. Batik is an ancient form of resist dying that uses wax to block the dye from certain areas. Make batik samples by painting with wax resist on cotton. This crash-course for beginning young print makers will teach them different mono printing techniques with different textures, drawing, and collaging techniques. Shibori Dying Techniques (Ages 8-14) Instructor: Kathryn Sullivan

Shibori is the ancient Japanese style of resist dying using binding techniques. Explore different techniques of resist dying such as stitching (touch of mokume), pole wrapping, binding, and clamping. Saturdays, June 3 & 10, 10am-12pmCost: $45, plus $20 materials fee. Students must also bring 2 yards of cellulose (plant) fabric such as cotton (recommended), hemp, soy, rayon, bamboo, and/or linen, as well as two spools of non-flavored dental floss.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.* All registrations must be accompanied by full payment. Payment may be in the form of a check or as a charge to a MasterCard or VISA. Cancellation of classes by CACGA policy: If an insufficient number of registrations are received for any individual class a week before the class is to begin, the class will be canceled. Therefore, it is important to register early. If cancellation occurs, a full refund will be processed for those currently registered in the class. Online registration will be refunded by check.

Cancellation by student Cancellations will be accepted by phone at 804-261-ARTS (2787). Cancellations received seven days or more prior to the first class will receive a 50% refund of the class fees. Cancellations received less than seven days prior to the first class will not receive a refund.
