Part of the definition of multiple-severe disabilities stipulates that a student with multiple-severe disabilities CANNOT be accommodated in special education programs designed for students with only ONE impairment.

Motor skills are usually the first to return after an injury.

Teenage males are the group most at risk for a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)

American students included in the multiple disability category is at .18%

LOW INCIDENCE

Many students who have deafblindness:– Have some residual vision– Can read enlarged print– Can see sign language– Can move about in environment

The majority of students with deafblindess receive their education in separate classrooms, Centers, or hospital schools.

Many children with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) are educated like their peers with learning disabilities.

After a brain injury, the first skills to return (spontaneously) are usually the motor skills.
