We thank God for the recent
Parents’ Day Dinner Celebration
and for the 47 people who
indicated in their feedback forms
that they wanted to accept Christ
as their Lord and Savior! Praise
God for His work in reaching their
hearts!
Prior to the dinner event, 20
people from the Mandarin
Worship Service (MWS) came to
pray together over 2 prayer
meetings on Friday. We prayed
over the names of friends and
relatives who have yet to know
Christ, asking that God would
touch them at the dinner.
Thank God that He has heard
the fervent prayers of His people!
The Holy Spirit is at work in our
church and in the lives of people
we hope to reach. All we did was
to arrange the dinner event, plan
the program and invite a speaker
to share. But it is the Holy Spirit
who convicts one to see the need
for Christ.
In our evangelistic outreach,
we sometimes forget that this is
spiritual warfare, which requires
spiritual resources. We need the
Holy Spirit and we need to pray
as individuals and as a church.
This dinner event also shows
how it is not just about personal
evangelism but also corporate
evangelism – the church
witnessed for Him as one Body
in Christ. We also realized the
importance of the church coming

together to pray and to plead with
the Lord for the salvation of our
loved ones and friends. It was a
wonderful and encouraging
experience to see God at work!
Our speaker for the Parents’
Day Dinner was Pastor Henry
Chong. He was a gifted singer
and speaker. Throughout his
rendition of Oldies songs, he
interspersed short gospel
messages. Songs from the
yesteryears resonated with the
guests. They could identify with
these songs which spoke of familial
love. Pastor Chong then connected
these songs with God’s love. This
touched their hearts and prepared
them to respond to the altar call.
One lesson there is that there
can be different approaches of
sharing the gospel to different
people of all ages. Some would
respond to the gospel with clear
teachings about Jesus and His
death and resurrection. Others
respond to Jesus and believe in
Him as Savior with the simple
message of God’s love for them.
We believe the Holy Spirit can
touch lives in ways He deems
best. Let us be open to His leading
as we continue to share the good
news of Christ and His love.
When it comes to evangelism,
we often focus on reaping a
harvest. Let us not forget that
there is the work of sowing the
seeds and watering them before
the harvesting. It takes much
hard work, time, patience and
love to sow the seeds, water them
and wait for growth to happen.
Let us not forget many others
before us who have done this.
Let us be willing to do the work of
planting, sowing and nurturing.
May the Holy Spirit also guide us
to reach out as individuals and as
a church.

Pray for the next generation of leaders to heed God’s call to full-time ministry, and for their parents/family to give their support, to meet the shortage of pastors. Pray for the “missing generation” from the age-group 18-30’s, many of whom are unable to find meaning in a “traditional” church setting. Pray for wisdom be upon the leaders of churches to find ways to engage these young people.

Pray for the ongoing recruitment for co-workers to serve in various roles, that church members and worshippers will step forward to serve, befriend and bless the CWK families, with their time and giftedness. Pray for good coordination amongst the ministries involved: EFU, MWS, CWK and KidSparks.
Prayer can never
be in excess.
(Charles Spurgeon)

Discussion Questions
What images come to mind when you hear the word “greed”?
How can we be on guard against greed?
Does being content rule out improving my circumstances if I get the opportunity? Why/why not?
Are things like insurance, savings, and investments opposed to trusting God and seeking first His kingdom? Biblical support?
As you take that step of obedience this week, ask God to show you how to make a long-term plan to guard against greed with a lifestyle of simplicity, contentment and generosity.
