Howard Farran, DDS, MBA, is a practicing dentist with more than 25 years of clinical experience, as well as a noted international speaker on faster, easier, more efficient dentistry. He has captivated audiences around the world with his innovative, informational, off-the-cuff and entertaining lectures for more than two decades. His area of expertise covers many aspects of dentistry, including the business of dentistry and clinical topics.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Farran made the decision at a young age to become a dentist. To accomplish this, he completed his Undergraduate studies at Creighton University, and in 1987, he graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry.
Upon graduation, Dr. Farran opened up his successful practice – Today’s Dental – in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Farran later went on to earn his MBA from Arizona State University in 1999. Dr. Farran has also earned his MAGD and DICOI, and is currently on the faculty of the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Dr. Farran has received multiple accolades including being named Alumni of the Year by the University of Missouri in 1997; receiving the Arizona Public Health Dentist of the Year Award in 1995 by the Arizona Office of Dental Health; and the Arizona Award in 1989 from the Arizona State Dental Association for outstanding contributions made to the profession of dentistry for his efforts to fluoridate the water of Phoenix.
Dr. Farran is the Founder and CEO of Farran Media, LLC, the parent company of Dentaltown.com, Dentaltown Magazine, as well as the Hygienetown, Orthotown, Dentaltown en Español, Dentaltown Portugués, Dentaltown Deutsch, and Townie Meeting. Dr. Farran’s true passion is to connect and inform the dental profession worldwide, so to achieve this, in 1999 he launched Dentaltown.com – an online community of more than 175,000 dental professionals all over the globe! Culling important and timely information from the conversations on Dentaltown.com, Dentaltown Magazine is the number-one requested publication for the dental profession
and is distributed to more than 120,000 dentists in more than 40 countries each month.
Also, Townie Meeting is the highly anticipated annual event for members of Dentaltown.com (aka “Townies”) to attend in Las Vegas, drawing hundreds of dental professionals from around the world.

Inducted into the Incisal Edge Innovator Hall of Fame 2013
Dr. Farran was inducted into the Innovator Hall of Fame by Benco’s Incisal Edge Magazine for
his game-changing contributions to dentistry.
Alumni of the Year 1997
Dr. Farran was awarded this honor by the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Dental Public Health Award 1995
Dr. Farran was honored by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Oral Health,
for his commitment to preventive dentistry.
Arizona Award 1990
As Vice-Chairperson of the Arizona Citizens for Better Dental Health, Dr. Farran was critical in
the movement to fluoridate the city of Phoenix. As the group’s spokesperson, he appeared on
numerous television and radio programs as well as debates in the Phoenix area. For his efforts,
the Arizona Dental Association awarded him the Arizona Award.
