Debra Davis Credit Manager Crystal Creamery (Foster Farms Dairy)

My career in credit and collections began in 1988 at Harris Moran Seed Company. Harris Moran sold vegetable and flower seed throughout the world. We managed an extensive international customer base with letters of credit, performance bonds and open lines of credit. In 1992 they were picked up in a hostel stock take over and most of the company’s patents were taken over resulting in a massive downsizing of the company. From 1992 to 2002 I worked in the wholesale building industry. We had a branch in Tokyo and shipped a significant amount of product to the Asian markets, primarily on open lines of credit. With letters of credit not being supported by senior management our bad debt for international sales was extremely high in comparison to our domestic sales. In 2002 I side stepped my credit management position and took an opportunity to work for a non- profit credit management association. There I consulted with credit managers in everything from building materials to pharmaceuticals. I worked with them on credit reports, collections, international sales, material liens and educational opportunities until 2009 when they downsized the northern CA division in 2009. In 2010 I became a member of the Board of Directors for the Association. I was on the board until 2015. Just prior to the associations downsizing I signed a new client, Foster Dairy Farms. When they learned I was available they immediately contacted me with an offer to join their team as the credit manager. Since becoming a member of the Foster Family in 2009 we have purchased 3 companies and expanded into international sales. We now ship product to China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Vietnam, Holland, Iran and Mexico.
