Gender, race, nationality, military experience, sexual orientation, color,
age, family status, work experience…… (Barkman, Speaker, n.d.).
“Employees at these companies (firms who promote diversity) are 45%
likelier to report that their firm’s market share grew over the previous
year and 70% likelier to report that the firm captured a new market.”
(Hewlett, S., Marshall, M., Sherbin, L., 2013).

industry

![Page 13: SPEA Abroad PowerPoint Presentation](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051405/58a276aa1a28ab94628b6e5f/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
13
Short Run Challenges
• Public relations firm is hired
• Could cost taxpayers $2 million
(Cook, T., LoBianco, T., 2015)
• “Welcoming place to live, visit and do business.”
• Tasks
• Stay away from political affiliation

• Do not over emphasize the campaign
![Page 14: SPEA Abroad PowerPoint Presentation](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051405/58a276aa1a28ab94628b6e5f/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)

How to Undo the Damage
• How can Indiana be more attractive than more accepting neighbors?
• Join 23 other states who have anti-discrimination legislation
protecting LGBT community (ACLU, n.d.)
• Make Indiana a welcoming place: “Hoosier Hospitality”
• Why bar an entire class of people from feeling welcome?
