SPE Workshop: The Montney Play

SPE WORKSHOP

As one of the bright spots in Canada’s oil and gas industry, the Montney fairway continues to attract investment, and has now grown to represent 25% of the nation’s gas supply since its humble beginnings. Despite challenging market conditions, a turbulent political environment, and excess supply from our neighbors to the south, Montney operators have demonstrated tremendous resilience and ingenuity.

The pace at which these creative innovations and collaborative efforts are being applied has accelerated over the last two years leading to new opportunities which will be discussed with some of the industry’s leading professionals at the SPE Montney Workshop.

This workshop is designed to engage and educate through lively panel discussions and case study presentations outlining peers’ successes & failures, evolving operational efficiencies, and emerging concerns. It will take a holistic approach that includes the integration of geosciences with reservoir, completion, and production engineering disciplines.

Workshop FormatWorkshops maximize the exchange of ideas among attendees and presenters through brief technical presentations followed by extended Q&A periods. Focused topics attract an informed audience eager to discuss issues critical to advancing both technology and best practices.

Many of the presentations are in the form of case studies, highlighting engineering achievements and lessons learned. In order to stimulate frank discussion, no proceedings are published and members of the press are not invited to attend.

On behalf of the Montney Workshop Committee and invited speakers, SPE Canada is pleased to make a donation of $500 to Heart for Home Haiti, a registered Canadian charity operating in Port Salut, Haiti. Heart for Home Haiti is providing aid in the form of food, clean water and shelter to Haitians impacted by Hurricane Matthew. This donation has been made at the request of the committee, in lieu of speaker and committee gifts.
