Philip Lockard returned to the University of Michigan Sunday afternoon a f t e r spending the spring vacation at his home here. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lockard of W. Division, drove to Ann Arbor with him. Other Spar-ta young people from the U. of M. who spent their vacation here were, Gary DeLoof, Anita Jacobs. Saturday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Kelthen Cooper, accompanied by Jim Tay-lor, took the three girls to Gary, Indiana, where they, with the rest of the Betty Kaiser Cadets of Grand Rapids, took par t In the Gary CYO Baton and Flag Tourna-ment. There were six other corps from Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio attending. The Betty Kaiser Corps won 1st place and also took the championship of CYO. Joyce Cooper Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Cooper and a sophomore at Spar ta High School. She has been a member of the Cadets for about a year. She Is the granddaughter of Mr, and Mrs. Chester E. Cooper. CYO is the Catholic Youth Organization and the proceeds of this tournament go to CYO Camp Lawrence.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beuschel of Conklln are receiving congratula-tions on the birth of an eight-pound, four-ounce son, Timothy Walter, on March 30. Mrs. Beus-chel Is the former Noreen A. Pres-ton.

Archie Light returned home last week Thursday, a f te r spending the winter at the home of his daugh-ter. Mrs, George Beasecker at Marysvllle, Ohio. Mrs, Beasecker came with him to spend a few days here. He has rented the down-stairs of his home to Mrs. Sarah Blaekall and daughter, Barbara, who expect to move to their new location soon.

On Saturday morning, April 4, the Pack toured the Lamoreaux Dairy in Comstock where they saw how milk was handled from the time it lef t the dairy f a rm until it was readied for delivery. Of par-ticular Interest was the methods of pasteurization, homogenizing, cool-ing and bottling. Mr. Lamoreaux treated the group to chocolate milk.

These handi-bags were fashioned of heavy cloth lined plastic In color-ful green, blue and brown with braided handles In brown and white. Each bag Is made to fasten on the bed with an extra pocket on the front. Cubs participating In this project were: Larry Hanl-fy, Joseph Provenzano, Billy Mor-gan and Wayne Jones Nester.
