sparkl: end to end integration with pentaho
DESCRIPTION
BI Solutions sometimes are required to do more than analyzing data, you can use that information to act upon the outside world and close the loop. During this presentation we will see how to use Sparkl, a plugin that has just been released, enabling to easily create screens that allow you to take actions. During this demo the Mongo DB plugin from Pentaho will be leveraged to show how we can even integrate with NoSQL databases. Pedro Martins - Head of Implementations, @Webdetails - PentahoTRANSCRIPT

MongoDB Dashboard
It was a success case.
Leveraged the capabilities of Pentaho back-end with the sex and sizzle of Ctools dashboards.

We want to be ableto present it
The customer got extremely excited with that and wants more of this.

We want more of that
We’ll be opening new markets and giving a step towards Operational Analytics, the perceived next big thing after big data.

Sparkl /Pentaho App Builder
Sparkl, or Pentaho App Builder, is a plugin creator instrument that sits on 2 major cornerstones: Ctools and PDI, aiming to leverage as much as possible of our existing stack. Anyone familiar with those tools will be able to build plugins, facilitating adoption.

Presenting them:Marketplace
Once we have several different applications, making them available to users becomes a fundamental step. Marketplace is the answer for that, providing visibility to the work done and a motivation for more community engagement.

Some will be deprecated, some will be popular
Some will be deprecated, while others may be so popular that we to include them in the product. And we need to be prepared for that. Since it's contained functionality, it's easier to test and QA. Since it's based on well controlled technologies, it's easier to support. And we'd be building a better product based out of successful use cases.

V-neckOne of the challenges we would need to face would be to embrace Ctools to the list of supported software, as it's the visual engine for both Sparkl and The Art of the Possible. We already have that challenge now.
