Dance has played a role i n m a n y w o r k s o f l i terature and poetry Since the early twentieth century, dancers have explored use of text in choreography. What role does text play for dance in these cases? What does it add to a dance? What does it say that dance alone cannot?

Particular literary works have been sources of choreografy

Some choreographers engage writing in the creative process—their own and that of their collaborators (dancers, musicians, and others)

It should be noted that production is prolific, there are many works not only inspired stories, novels, legends, oral tradition, but also in biblical texts, Greek myths and legends, etc. Literature and dance interact to enable new public, new looks, new readings

Relationship literature - ballet can be divided into two types: direct, when there’s an adaptation of a literary work to the ballet, as in the case of Don Quixote; indirect when the ballet was created from a script by adding an additional mediation. This is the case of two repertory works: The Swan Lake and Giselle.
