Spain reopens six Missions in East and South Texas to regain control of Texas

• Mission San Antonio de Valero (Alamo) and Presidio San Antonio de Bexar (San Antonio) were built at the halfway point between Mexico City and East Texas for supplies and military aide to East Texas

• Missions begin to fall apart again – Indians could not adapt, would not work, did not want to take orders, and wanted to be free.

• Chicken War – 7 French soldiers attack Mission at Nacogdoches.

• Spanish panic and flee to San Antonio

• Mid 1700s to regain control of Texas they resupply and reorganize their Missions and Presidios – West Texas, East Texas, South Texas

( Mission Espada, San Juan, and LaBahia) and Goliad to save money.
