Important Information.

Test day: A test is designed to assess a student’s understanding of the material. The student will know

beforehand what to expect on the test. Before giving the test, the teacher will clearly explain what to do

on the test and will answer any questions; however, after passing out, or opening the test online, the

teacher will not answer any questions. If a student is caught talking or cheating in any way, for example

using any kind of electronic devices not authorized (including cellphones and Chromebooks) while taking

a test, the student will receive a grade of 0 for that test. Parents will be contacted as well.

Substitutes: All work done with a substitute will count.

Cell phones, MP3 player/IPOD or similar: it is not allowed the use of any of these devices in class

unless it is used for an educational purpose and authorized by the teacher. In case of any violation

regarding the use of any of the above-mentioned devices, the disciplinary procedure set up by the school

will be followed.

Late work

Assignments are due at the beginning of the class. Homework will not be accepted late. To earn a

100 for homework it must be completely done. To earn a 50, you must have 50 % or more done.

Less than 50% done earns a 0 since homework is graded based on completion. Late projects and

papers will be penalized twenty points per day.

Make-up work

Students should check the Google classroom/ handout folder when returning from an absence.

Students have a week to make-up work missed from excused absences. Tests should be made up

within a week also. If a student returns the day a prescheduled test is given, only students with

excused absences can elect to make-up the quiz/test within a week. Students with unexcused

absences will take the quiz/test as scheduled with the class.

Tutoring: Power Hour is a free tutoring/study hall for students. It occurs on Mondays and Thursdays

each week in the 500 hall. Students are able to make up test, work on homework, projects, use the

Page 3: Spanish III Syllabus Teacher: Sandra Camacho-Naundorf ... · Spanish III Syllabus Teacher: Sandra Camacho-Naundorf Conference: 4 th Block Contact information: sandracamacho@anderson5.net

computers or receive tutoring in any subject they may be struggling in. We encourage students to

attend power hour. Transportation is free for those who need it. Students must sign up in the guidance

office if they need the bus to take them home. Tutoring is also available after school in the classroom if

previously scheduled with the teacher.

Procedures

Class will begin immediately after the bell rings. Students will work on a bell ringer that will be on the

board each day.

Students are to take care of any personal needs before class begins (Example—sharpening pencils,

restroom, water, etc). Only emergency situations should interrupt class.

It is the student’s responsibility to come to class prepared. It is advisable to have some “study buddies”

in order to keep current with assignments. Assignments will also be posted on my webpage.

It is the student’s responsibility to complete any work missed due to an excused absence. You may

see me before or after class to get missed assignments and/or schedule missed tests/quizzes. Do not

ask for missing work during instructional time. Work not made up within 5 school days will result in a

zero.

I want you to excel in class and will help you in any way to grasp the subject matter. If students (or

parents) have concerns, ask BEFORE any tests or quizzes. All students are expected to take

assessments on the assigned day. Being absent the day before a test/quiz is not an excuse for not

taking the assessment.

I will be available for extra help most days before or after school. I will not be available on Tuesdays.

Although an appointment is not required, it is advisable to check with me to make sure I do not have a

previous commitment.

Students should refrain from having any materials on their desks that do not pertain to Spanish

class. Such materials may consist of food/drink, personal items, telephones and work from other

classes. Food and drink are not allowed in the classroom and will be thrown away. The school wide

policy on phones will be employed. Work from other classes will be held until the end of the school

day (or longer, depending on the situation).

When I am talking it is time for you to STOP talking. Talking or disruptive behavior while

someone else is talking will not be tolerated and will result in discipline.

Students should remain upright during the class period. Even if a student finishes a test/quiz early, it is

not acceptable to rest on the desktop.

Please inspect your desk upon arrival. If there are any markings or other types of damage (gum or

writing, for example) please alert me and I will address the situation.

Carefully review all tests/quizzes before turning them in. If a student skips a section, he/she will not

be given an opportunity to retake the missing portion and it will be marked incorrect.
