Quizzes/Tests: Quizzes will occur weekly, and will be based on the previous day’s/week’s lesson or homework. To stay properly prepared, students should review nightly and pay attention in class. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced, but there will be no surprises as to the information and curriculum. You will have a test at the end of most Lecciónes and at the end of each Unidad. Tests will include textbook material, supplemental readings, and supplemental notes given in class. Homework/Daily Work: Homework, usually including workbook assignments, readings, and worksheets from each chapter, is assigned often - sometimes daily. Diarios (daily warm-ups) are to be completed every day upon arrival to class. Include the date and keep track of them in your binder, as they will be checked randomly.

Late Work: Students who turn in their work late will only receive HALF CREDIT. In some cases, there will be a deadline given in which late work is no longer accepted, which will result in a zero for that assignment. Late work is to be turned into the Grade Me box. If turning in your work late becomes a habit, you will find yourself in detention, and your parents will be contacted. What if I’m absent? Upon returning to class, check the weekly calendar posted on the board and the corresponding folder to get any handouts you missed. If an assignment was turned in while you were absent, turn your work into the Grade Me box, and label it absent. If you missed a quiz/test, schedule a time to get it made up promptly. Make-Up Policy: District policy will be followed for assignments turned in after the due date as a result of EXCUSED absences (days missed plus a day for each). School activity absences require students to turn in assignments and/or take quizzes PRIOR to absence. ALWAYS speak with the teacher prior to a school activity absence.

Class Participation: In order to improve your skills, we will be doing activities daily in class that require you to use the language. This is the most vital part of class! Participation grades are given weekly and are based on everything from completing your warm-up exercises, to having your materials in class, to using the language in appropriate activities. This will be discussed further in class. Benchmarks: There will be three benchmarks, one of which is an oral assessment. The percentage value given is determined by the district. Semester Tests: The final exam is comprehensive and covers material from the beginning of the semester. Academic Integrity: Cheating in any form will result in a zero (0) on that particular assignment/test as well as disciplinary actions. Plagiarism is considered cheating, as well as use of an online translator. Cell Phones and Electronic Devices: Students are NOT allowed to have cell phones or headphones ON or OUT during class time. This includes charging one’s cell phone. Unless special permission has been given, if one is seen or heard in class, it will be confiscated and taken to the office. When special permission has been given to have your cell phone out, texting and use of social media sites are strictly prohibited, and will result in your phone being confiscated. Multiple offenses will result in an office referral. Drinking, Eating, and Gum: Food and drinks are not allowed unless I have given special permission for them. Water bottles will be permitted, unless trash/spills become a problem. Tardies: Students are considered tardy if they are not in their assigned seat when the bell rings. 3 tardies = 1 unexcused absence (per district policy) Extra help: If the student has trouble with the course or material, please discuss this with the teacher immediately. If the student needs extra help, he/she should not wait until the last minute. Tutorial can take place during PACK Time with Ms. Fitch or Ms. Ihrig or with me, after school. These tutorials will need to be scheduled ahead of time and include a specific area of study. Behavior: Be respectful of others in class. Rude, disruptive or detrimental attitudes or comments are not tolerated! Be encouraging and supportive. Speak in English as little as possible, with permission and at appropriate times.
