SRM SPACE PROBECHASING THE INCOMING SUNGRAZER...

INTRODUCTION

SRM SPACE PROBE is a research project under the department of Aerospace (SRM University,

Kattankulathur). We are sponsored by Maple Software. Our task is to

Launch an unmanned high altitude balloon till 28th november 2013 and accomplish all the mission objectives

Page 3: space probe main0

RESEARCH SUBJECT (ISON)Comet ISON will make an appearance in Earth's sky in 2013. While it's hard to predict just how bright the comet will be when it arrives, someastronomers are saying that it could be as bright as the full moon or perhaps, even visible in daylight. ISON is considered a "sungrazer," meaning that it will pass very close to the sun when it gets into the inner solar system in November 2013.

Our mission is to take photograph of this comet from an altitude of 30 km and use it for Estimating the composition of ISON comet.

DESIGN We choose to have capsule shaped moduleto resist shear forces and for stability factor as drag is also low foruniform bodies
