Clients are requested to arrive 5 minutes before their appointment and wait in the upstairs lounge.

Therapists are to be paid directly on the day of treatment by cash or cheque.

Revitalising Facial Your skin will firstly be deep cleansed, toned and exfoliated to remove dry dead skin cells. You will then enjoy a shoulder and neck massage and a shiatsu facial massage before you have a mask applied to your face. While the mask is on, you can enjoy a hand or foot massage, or upgrade to a hand or foot treatment for an extra £5. Hands will be covered in a nourishing mask and placed in heated mitts, feet will have a mask applied and then placed in heated booties. This is fantastic for clients who have very dry skin or arthritis, as the heat allows the mask to penetrate deeper into the skin and ease arthritic hands and feet. The face mask will be removed and finally moisturiser and eye serum will be applied. What a way to spend a relaxing hour! Regular facials benefit the skin in many ways, including deep cleansing and exfoliating of the skin; blood and lymph circulation is increased, helping to remove impurities; skin is toned and relaxed, with improved texture and appearance. Facials are also considered a preventative measure against premature aging of the skin.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a science based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet which correspond to all organs, glands and body parts. Reflexology is a technique of using the thumbs and fingers on these reflexes to stimulate major organs and aid in the excretion of toxins. Reflexologists suggest that energy flows through our bodies in 10 zones, these run from our head down to the toes and the fingers, which are rich in nerve endings. The flow of energy – the Chinese call chi – ends in many of the reflex points in the hands and feet. The theory is that if there is an imbalance in the body, the energy becomes blocked. A reflexologist may feel these blockages and will help break down the crystals and restore energy flow. It greatly stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems and helps flush away toxins. Indian Head Massage Indian Head Massage is based on an ancient Ayurvedic healing system that has been practised in India for approx 4000-5000 years. Ayurveda is the ancient Hindu practice of health care and medicine. The treatment is also known as champisagge from the ancient Hindu word ‘champi’ meaning massage. (This is where we get the word ‘shampoo’ from).

Its holistic approach concentrates on achieving a balance of the mind, body and spirit to promote physical, emotional and spiritual health and well-being. Traditionally this was an important family ritual in India and was passed on from generation to generation. This therapeutic massage involves various strong but gentle massage and pressure movements working on the areas of the upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, head, face and ears that accumulate tension and stress.

One treatment can lift you out of the stress of everyday life, improves blood circulation, stimulates lymphatic flow, boosts the immune system, releases blockages and tension in the muscles and drains away toxins from the aching muscles. Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a time of enormous physical and emotional change. As the baby develops, this can cause considerable strain on the mother’s body, causing some pain and discomfort. Massage can help to prepare the body for the changes that occur during this special time, as well as helping to alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions related to pregnancy. This will help to promote a healthy and happy pregnancy, as well as helping labour and subsequent post natal recovery. Massage during pregnancy has multiple benefits for both mother and baby – it provides relaxation, soothes nerves and reduces anxiety. It relieves stress on joints and eases neck, back and leg strain. It also helps with promoting good posture, improving quality of sleep and balancing moods. Massage aids the lymphatic system and encourages the elimination of waste and toxins which helps to reduce swelling (oedema).

Aromatherapy Massage Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils to activate your sense of smell and increase your sense of well-being. This is a holistic therapy, which means it’s designed to treat your overall needs, not just one symptom. The essential oils used in aromatherapy are powerful and are extracted from plants, shrubs, flowers, bark, peel, resin, grasses, fruits, roots, trees, petals, stems or seeds.

Our therapist will take a full medical history and details of lifestyle, this will help decide which essential oils are most appropriate for you. After carefully choosing your essential oils, the therapist will blend them with what is called a "carrier" oil.

The blend of oils work on many levels by entering the blood stream via the skin through the smooth, flowing massage and through inhalation to act on our nervous system. The powerful combination of the oils and massage instils a sense of deep relaxation and calm. Every session is tailored towards you, your health and your mood at the time, so every massage is unique.

Aromatherapy massage not only aids relaxation but improves circulation, it may also help relieve stress and anxiety, improve sleep, ease tired aching muscles, improve skin tone and condition. For the oils to work to their full potential they should be left on skin for at least 6 hours and the effects of the treatment may last up to 36 hours.

Hopi Ear Candling Hopi ear candling, also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy is an ancient form of therapy practised by many people on a worldwide basis. Its name is associated with the Hopi Indians of North Arizona and means ‘peaceful people’. Ear candles were used traditionally by Shamen healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians. It is also believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual level but much later on a purely physical basis.

Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve pressure in the head and sinus and aid hearing problems

After a full consultation to ensure there are no contra-indications and to ensure the treatment is delivered in the most effective way for each client’s unique requirements, lying comfortably on your side, the candle will be gently placed into the ear canal where it is lit, this will be held steady in a vertical position and you will enjoy a relaxing head massage during the candle burn. You will experience a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns and a warm comfortable feeling. A light suction action (chimney effect) and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum which helps balance the pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. This process will be repeated on the other ear. Treatment finishes with a gentle pressure point lymphatic facial and ear massage which helps drainage from this area.

Hopi candles can be used to help many conditions including deafness caused by excess wax, congested sinuses, irritation in the ears, ringing or noises in the ears, tinnitus, rhinitis, glue ear, colds, flu, headaches and migraines. Also for our increasingly stressed society it is a deeply relaxing, calming and soothing experience. Restoring equilibrium or pressure in the ear is particularly beneficial before and after a flight, or after frequent flying and sports such as diving. As their action is so gentle, they are also suitable for children.

It is important to note that the candle does not suck wax out of the ear; it stimulates the ear to eliminate the wax naturally, ensuring maximum safety.

Thai Hot Herbal Compress Massage The healing practice of Thai herbal compress therapy dates back nearly 5,000 years. In Thailand the herbal compress is called luk pra kob, translating as “herbal pressing sphere”. They are made with a fantastic array of healing, aromatic and therapeutic herbs including prai, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, kaffir lime among others and wrapped together in muslin cloth in accordance with ancient recipes.

Thai Herbal Compress Massage is a wonderful therapy involving traditional massage along with

massaging the body with compresses that are steamed to heat them and release their healing

properties for a purely indulgent treatment. They are applied to the skin in gentle pressing, patting,

pounding or rolling movements. The heat from the compress carries the herbal essences and

After Care Advice

MASSAGE AND REFLEXOLOGY

In order to aid the healing process and to get the maximum benefit from your treatment you are advised to:

Drink plenty of water as this helps the body flush away excess toxins and waste released by the massage.

Avoid eating a heavy meal for up to 2 hours after massage, as blood will be diverted to your digestion, rather than carrying oxygen and nutrients to other parts of the body and getting rid of waste. A light snack is fine.

Avoid stimulants such as coffee, tea and cola. If this can’t be avoided, please compensate by having an extra glass of water.

Avoid alcohol (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) and smoking for up to 24 hours.

Rest and relax after treatment.

If oils have been used in your hair, apply shampoo to hair before wetting it and massage in to hair, this will help dissolve the oil easier.

CONTRA-ACTIONS

You will feel very relaxed after a treatment, however sometimes either during or after a treatment you may feel exceptionally tired, dizzy, nauseous, emotional, have a headache or general aches and pains, experience disturbed sleep or deeper sleep and possible increased mucus in the nose. You may also feel the need to urinate more frequently. Although you may not experience any of these reactions, you should be aware that they might occur. These reactions are normal and are called a “healing crisis” where the body is reacting to the flushing away of toxins and re-balancing itself. Don’t be alarmed if you feel strange or different after your massage as these symptoms won’t last long. However if you faint, vomit or have diarrhoea please seek medical advice.
