New Year! New You! Created bone of His bone
Created flesh of His flesh
I am a child whose father is the Almighty God
We were created in His image
His divine nature was imparted to me
And His royal blood now flows through my veins
I am a new creation, I was created by Him
And through Him we are infallible, indestructible a new class of men
And though the powers of hell may rage against me I stand triumphantly
With the armor of God to go about me I can stand victoriously. These are words to one of my favorite songs that very few people know or have heard. In the late 70’s,
The Imperials were the lead group in contemporary Christian music. When I first heard this song, I just sat as a teenager and realized who I was in Christ! I needed it then and I need it daily to remind me of who I am
in Christ. Scripture says, it this way: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 As we begin a new journey, 2019, let’s remember this great truth. It will make the new year seem less daunting and more exciting! Approach your new year with the attitude of gratitude outlook. In Christ, you have a new beginning in 2019. Leave behind the old and give God the glory for the new. Make a difference for the Kingdom this year! Bro. Coach
Welcome!
Happy New Year 2019 from the Desk of Brother Jack Maddox
It is that time again isn’t it? New Years Resolutions! I know sometimes we as preachers get a little ‘preachy’ when it comes to folks ‘resolving’ to this or that, but truth be told it is a fun tradition and I don’t really see any harm in it. Jonathan Edwards wrote a book of resolutions and I thought I would share just a few of them with you. You will find them convicting and edifying at the same time. These are just a few of them:
Resolved, that I will do whatsoever I think to be most to God’s glory, and my own good, profit and pleasure, in the whole of my duration, without any consideration of the time, whether now, or never so many myriads of ages hence. Resolved to do whatever I think to be my duty and most for the good and advantage of man-
kind in general. Resolved to do this, whatever difficulties I meet with, how many and how great.
Resolved, never to lose one moment of time; but improve it the most profitable way I possibly can.
Resolved, never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if I expected it would not be above an hour, before I should hear the last trump.
Resolved, never to do anything out of revenge.
Resolved, never to suffer the least motions of anger to irrational beings.
Resolved, never to speak evil of anyone, so that it shall tend to his dishonor, more or less, upon no account except for some real good.
Resolved, to think much on all occasions of my own dying, and of the common circumstances which attend death.
Resolved, when I feel pain, to think of the pains of martyrdom, and of hell.
Resolved, never to give over, nor in the least to slacken my fight with my corruptions, however unsuccessful I may be.
These are just a few of the Resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, I commend them to you in your own devotions and time with the Lord!
From Dorothy, Brandon, Josh and myself…May you have a happy and joy filled New Year! Pastor Jack
