Annual Church Picnic - August 26 2:00 - 7:00 pm Rickman Center

This has been a fast, hot summer. As August begins, we look forward to school

start, some eagerly and some anxiously. One of the highlights of the

Southridge family’s summer is the Annual church picnic to wrap up the summer

season. Everyone is asked to bring 2 side dishes and a dessert to share. Terry

Hale and the Southridge BBQ crew make the yummiest hot dogs and

hamburgers.

Everyone is invited to fellowship and if you dare, challenge the corn toss kings

(Bob Batey, Doug Griswold, and Pastor Ron) to a match. Or step into the sand

pit for a fun game of volleyball, splash around in the pool or just visit in the

dining hall.

2-5pm pool is open (with lifeguard)

and-the-need-for-spiritual-revival/). We’ve been praying for personal, church,

state, and nationwide Revival since May 21 and are beginning to see some signs of

the activity of God among us. Some have said how Satan is attacking them in

greater force, and others have indicated how their attitudes are shifting to be

more Christlike! Let’s persevere!!!!!

These are great days and great opportunities to be bold for Jesus and love

people!!!!

I love you and love being your pastor. Thanks for your prayerful encouragement

during the sermon series on the parables! And, for the continued prayer for

Revival!!!

“Christmas in August” Yes, at Southridge

we kick off Christmas Music season August 19th

at 5:00 pm.

See you and a friend there!

“Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh!” (Nope – not a typo – it’s Gaelic for “You have a happy Christmas!” Pronouced NO-Lihg HO-nuh JEEV And it is what Southridge Worship Choir will begin working on for this Christmas. It is good to start thinking about Christmas this early – not for the commericalism – but for the Christ child. Our pastor has asked us to pray for revival –as we do – remember when they prayed for the Messiah to come the first time – when he comes again it will not be as an infant this time. Let’s make Christ evident all year long

8/1: Normal Wednesday night resumes

8/15: Back 2 School Bash @ Hale’s,

5:30-9:00pm

8/15: Blair Oaks Public Schools start

8/16: Jefferson City Public Schools start

8/23: Russellville Public Schools start

Looking Ahead

• August is here and it is a back to school transition for students

and families. The reactions I hear from students are some

want school to start and others are not looking forward to it.

• In August we will resume our normal Wednesday night routine

at Southridge. We start our Midweek Lifeline at 6:30 and end

around 8:15. I look forward to seeing everyone as we begin a

new school year.

• The only Wednesday night that will be a little different is

August 15th. We are having our Back to School Bash swim

party/cookout at the Hale’s house. We will LEAVE the church

at 5:30 and return back to church around 9:00. Please plan

rides accordingly. Big thanks to Terry and Jane for hosting!!!

• Please be in prayer for our students as they go back to school

and enter their number one mission field. Here are the dates

they return to classes: Jeff City Aug. 16, Blair Oaks Aug. 15,

and Russellville Aug. 23. We have student missionaries in

each of these public schools. What a great impact for the

Kingdom we can have!!!

Prayer Calendar

Every student in our youth group will be

a part of the prayer calendar. A youth

will be spotlighted and focused on for

one week. Please pray for this student

during that week and ask that God will

place a special blessing on them as

they go about their daily lives. Maybe

send them a note of encouragement or

a phone call or text to let them know

you’re praying for them.

Here’s the schedule for this month:

1st week: Elizabeth Thomas 2nd week: Ben Phelps 3rd week: Kelly Edoho 4th week: Dylan Renaud 5th week: Hannah Tracy

Looking Back

• We participated in the last session of “Back Yard Bible Clubs”

during July 9-11. Thanks to all who were involved in making

this effort a success.

• On Wednesday night July 18th we had 35 students come out

for our Putt Putt Night at Turkey Creek. This was an

awesome time to have fun and get together after a few weeks

of inconsistency. Thanks to all those who helped chaperone

and provide transportation.

• What do you do when it has been 90 plus degrees for over 30

days? Take a student ministry trip to Big Surf. That’s what it

seems like everyone was thinking when 30 plus students and

their friends decided to take this opportunity on July 25th.

Praise the Lord once again for adults to help out and

transport students.
