The island is ideal for cycling. Suggested routes are available from Tourist Information Centres.Red Squirrel TrailMost of this trail is based on smooth cycleways which were created from disused railway lines and make for a lovely leisurely cycle through the heart of the Island’s countryside.

NewportThis beautiful town features two elegant squares and a quay, alongside lots of museums, shops and historic sights.

RydeSet upon an expanse of sandy beach, this large town has lots of boutique shops and cafes.

WalkIsland WalksLeaflets about the extensive network of footpaths are available from Tourist Information Centres.

Fortifications TrailBook a visit to Bembridge Fort on a Tuesday then afterwards follow this fairly flat walk along the top of the downs to explore the island’s role in wartime defence and intelligence. The walk is suitable for most wheelchairs and offers spectacular views.

There are two great local pubs within easy walking distance. The Pointer Inn in Newchurch Village and the Fighting Cocks (dog-friendly) on the main road.

Visit the Garlic Farm for everything garlic, including beer!

Bring your golf clubs and enjoy the local courses which are very welcoming to visitors.

Walking up to the battery at the needles is an invigorating walk and the views are amazing.

The English Heritage Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle are must-sees!
