SU Alumni Federation President’s Remarks

I am overwhelmingly thrilled about the many tasks the SU Alumni Federation Home Chapter has accomplished during my first fiscal year (August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015) as President. This booklet will attest to just a few of our Chapter’s accomplishments. All of the hard work thus far is a result of enthusiasm and support from each Home Chapter member willing to take our Chapter to greater levels in the Federation. Praise God for faithful members!

We are the Chapter of innovators. Our theme “Remembering our Past & Supporting our Future” allows

committed people to jump on board as we try to advance our cherished University (SU). I encourage all members to continue to give your time and finances to the Home Chapter as we continue to make SU a better place.

Our new System President-Chancellor, Dr. Ray L. Belton has committed himself to working with the

various alumni chapters and the Jaguar Nation fan base to be inclusive as we all try to achieve the best for Southern University and I look forward to his involvement.

As we begin a new fiscal year, I believe we will continue to achieve advanced levels of success and

recognition for Southern University A&M College and the National Alumni Federation. As Thomas Edison so eloquently reminds us, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Therefore, I encourage every supporter of SU and members of the Home Chapter to get ready to invest in a new pair of overalls.

Cortny R Jarrell, MPA SU Alumni Federation Home Chapter President

Congratulations to our new Home Chapter Officers. I cannot say enough good things about the

leadership of this administration. We are building on the success and incredible hard work of the prior administrations and moving to another level. As I often say, this Chapter is the fastest growing Chapter in the country.

Congratulations to our Chapter President, Cortny Jarrell, and all of the Officers for the work you have done so far and the work that you will do in the future. There is no reason why the Home Chapter should not only be the fastest growing Chapter, but the largest in the country.

I look forward to the inauguration of the new Officers to celebrate our Chapter’s accomplishments and to witness the future success of our organization. On behalf of the entire Executive Board of the Southern University Alumni Federation and fellow chapters from around the country, I wish you good luck and congratulations again!!!

Preston J. Castille, Jr., JD SU Alumni Federation National President

GAMMA ETA OMEGA CHAPTER

Greetings! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the home of the Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated! We are pleased to partner with the Home Chapter of the Southern University Alumni Association to promote the famed historically black college, Southern University A&M College. For many people around the world, the name of Southern University is synonymous with exceptional leadership, educational advancement and historical accomplishments that have produced some of the country’s greatest leaders. Gamma Eta Omega is proud to be a part of that legacy and we are proud to join the Alumni Association in promoting one of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s signature programs, Think HBCU℠. The “Think HBCU℠” program highlights HBCU’s and their contribution to the sorority and society. Through programs such as this, we are able to provide the opportunity for engagement and advocacy. Additionally, it allows for our local HBCU’s to be showcased as a critical venue for moving students to and through college. We sincerely thank you for joining us on this journey and we hope that you will consider joining the Home Chapter of the Southern University Alumni Association as they continue to support the goals and objectives of the University through recruitment, financial support, public relations, community outreach, talent loyalty, dedication and commitment to the highest standards.

Sincerely,

Katina Semien
