The South Westminster Health and Wellbeing Network is one of four themed networks that comprise the South Westminster Action Network. The aim of the networks, individually and collectively, is to bring together stakeholders across south Westminster and facilitate joint working, better communication, improved services and increased quality of life/health outcomes for local communities. Who are Turning Point?

TP is the UK’s leading social care organisation & has been providing services for over 40 years

TP provide support & care in 5 sectors

– Substance Misuse

– Mental Health

– Young People

– Learning Disability

– Employment

TP is part of the Voluntary Sector with most of its work being commissioned from Local Authorities

Who are we?

Commissioned by Westminster to:

Provide support & access to treatment for residents & those confirmed as responsibility of Westminster who live in the South of the Borough

Work with both Drug & Alcohol Users – anyone who sees their use as a problem

Who are we?

We are an adult service, & will work with any resident of South Westminster over the age of 18 years old

Our Young Peoples Service is very separate & will take referrals from Families, Social Services, Youth Offending team, Schools, Mental Health Services & hospitals

Group Program

Step 1: Introduction to Groups – Suitable for chaotic users. Easy Access support for those not yet ready to commit to a structured program

Step 2: Stabilisation Groups: - 12 Five day week, which must be attended a minimum of two days.

Step 3: Moving Forward: - 6 week program for those who are stable & motivated but not abstinent

Step 4: Abstinent: 12 week program open to those who do not want residential rehab, may have finished rehab but needs further support or released from prison or discharged from hospital

We can arrange to do information workshops for staff of organisations who work with or have regular contact with drug & alcohol users. (Westminster only)

Staff from other agencies can, and are encouraged to call for information, advice & support. This includes any concerns they have about their service users

substitute prescribing for opiate & alcohol users

Outreach Support - work closely with all the Building Based Services Teams, Connections at St Martins & Passage Day Centre

Hostel Support - We have staff based in 7 hostels where we support residents who find it hard to access the main service due to physical ailments or the chaos of their use or drinking

101 completed detox

83 referred onto rehab. 54 completed & are still

substance free
