Bowling Team Meeting If you're interested in trying out for the Spartan Boys or Girls bowling team, there will be an informational meeting on Thursday, Sept. 11th at 6:00 p.m. in Mr. Deaton's room. Guidance Department Needs Assistance... We are collecting non perishable food items and personal hygiene items. Dance Team Pancake Breakfast Dance Team is having a pancake breakfast at Applebee's on Saturday, September 13th from 7:30 until 9:30. Tickets are $5 each.
National Honors Society Invitations to qualifying juniors and seniors have been mailed home. Membership dues are due no later than September 12 to Mrs. Taylor or Mrs. Sarah White. There will be a short induction ceremony (2:45 - 3:15) for all new members after school, in the auditorium, on Tuesday September 16th.
Congratulations Lady Spartan Golfers! Congrats to Casey VanMeter for finishing in the top 10 at the WBIT on Saturday, September 6th at Bowling Green Country Club. Savannah Trussell shot an 86 and The Lady Spartans Golf Team shot a total of 356
2nd Annual Seniors with Seniors Lunch The 2nd Annual Seniors with Seniors Lunch for Senior students and their grandparent/significant older adult will be October 24th. Look for more information in next week's Spartan Speak.
PLAN/ASVAB/Practice ACT Testing All Sophomores will take the PLAN, Seniors will be taking the ASVAB and Juniors will be taking the practice ACT on Tuesday, September 23rd. PLAN is a predictor for the ACT and is used for SWHS accountability showing growth as well as the English Language & Mechanics test. It is used for placement in intervention/enrichment courses and SWORD classes. The ASVAB is not just a military test. It provides good career information and is used to help CTE preparatory studnets to be career ready in accountability. The next national ACT dates are September 13, October 25 and December 13, 2014. PSAT – October 15, 2014 The PSAT is optional for Sophomores and Juniors. Sign up and pay $14 in the guidance office to take the PSAT. PSAT determines National Merit Finalists but is not tied to accountability or intervention at SWHS. Deadline for signing up is September 17th by 2pm.
South Warren FFA Mum Sale! The South Warren FFA is selling mums now through September 12th! Get yours NOW! There are a variety of colors – Yellow, Red, Orange, Purple and White. Orders can be placed through an FFA student or in the front office. The mums are in two gallon pots and are on sale for $10.00 each. Payment is required at time of order.
Balfour Balfour will be here September 16th during lunch to deliver any Senior items that have not already been picked up. REPORT-A-BULLY WHAT IS BULLYING? Bullying refers to any intentional act by a student or groups of students directed against another student to ridicule, humiliate, or intimidate the other student while on school grounds, or at a school sponsored activity, which acts are repeated against the same student over time. (WCPS 09.422) To Report A Bully: 1. Click on the Report-A-Bully link on your school or WCPS district website or visit HTTP://GOO.GL/FF9XVN 2. Complete the form. 3. Your report will be investigated by a school official. Please use this form to report bullying that takes place during school hours/school property. The schools cannot investigate incidents that take place outside of school property/hours.
