South Grand Great Streets Initiative

Phase One Overview:

Location: Alley south of Humphrey to Arsenal Street

Budget: $1.8 Million

As shown in the following illustrative drawings,

phase one will reduce the number of t ravel lanes

from four to three, complete a portion of the overall

beautication of the streetscape and provide bulb-

outs at intersections to slow trafc and provide a short

crossing distance for pedestrians. Beautication

in phase one is limited to the right-of-way along

South Grand Blvd. and includes new pervious

concrete sidewalk paving, new concrete driveway/

alley aprons, ornamental planting areas, turf

planting areas, detectable warnings at each corner,

accessible pedestrian signals at each corner of

signalized intersections, new island at Arsenal Street,

new crosswalk striping, new pavement markings,

relocation of the two existing bus shelters and existing

trash receptacles and newspaper boxes.

Phase Two Overview:

Location: Utah Street to Arsenal Street

Budget: $1.2 Million

Phase two will complete the beautication (started

in phase one) of the streetscape from Utah Street to

Arsenal Street. Additional enhancements will include

the addition of street trees, additional ornamental

planting, lighting, relocation of the mid-block trafc

signal at Juniata, relocation of the existing street

lighting and additional site furniture.
