At the end of T3 some students from 5/6AP submitted a grant application to participate in the Lego/Google tournament. Every year, teams of up to 10 students build, program and compete with a robot, while also learning about a modern problem in science and engineering and developing solutions for it. There are 3 aspects to the program. Build the lego robot and pre program it to complete a number of tasks within 2 and a half minutes. Present a project, based around 'Trash'. Teams learn more about the competition theme and present their ideas to a panel of judges. Working on the project teaches students to research, think critically, work as a team and speak publicly. The project shows students they have the power to change the world, as teams can share successful ideas with their community, their school, their families, even all of Australia and the world! Thirdly to embed the core value of First League Lego into students work: being responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The grant worth over $5000 has provided SGPS with EV3 robot, registration, training and lego, lego and more lego!

Please assist your children in returning their Library books EVERY WEEK so that they can borrow new books. Unfortunately, if books are not returned no additional ones can be borrowed.

Book Club Please note there will not be any Book club this month due to our Upcoming BOOK FAIR!

The Book Fair will be arriving in school on Friday 6th November. A fantastic chance to pick up some stocking stuffers, holiday reading and great, educational presents! (We will not be having a Book Character Parade this year as we have had Market Day this year. The Book Character Parade will be back next year.) Classes will be visiting the Library on Friday 6th and Monday 9th November to browse and create their Book Fair Wish Lists. Book Fair will be open to students or parents/carers who are purchasing on:Tuesday 10th November 8.30-9am & 3.00-5.30pm. Wednesday 11th November 8.30-9am & 3.00-5.30pm. So come on in and support SGPS Book Fair!

Children who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser and raised the required amount were rewarded with their prizes this week. Congratulations to all these students and Mr Watson for his organisation.

Preschoolers had another great day at PPP this week. Miss King’s group made beautifull sunflowers. We are asking our parents if they have a pre-schooler attending Kindergarten next year to please ensure you have enrolled your child by filling in an enrolment form and lodging it at the office.

Lego/Google grant successful!
