the testing tools• Can be used to check that the testing engine, HVA, and VSL are
working correctly• Available by launching INSIGHT software• Oral administration (HVA) and Video Sign Language (VSL) versions
available • OTT sessions should be scheduled prior to and separate from the
operational testing time
Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA)
• Ensure the appropriate number of working headphones are available for students
• Adjust the volume on each workstation to a comfortable level• Check student accommodations in Test Setup (eDIRECT) to ensure
oral administration has been assigned• Do not use student test tickets to test that software is working.
OTT logins should be used for these purposes.
Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA)• DURING TESTING• When a student logs in, he/she should see audio buttons on the
Welcome screen• Students will hear a human voice for directions and test items.
A text-to-speech (synthesized) voice will read the Help content.• If a student needs to adjust the volume during testing, they
should click the ‘Options’ button and select ‘Audio Settings.’
Helpful Hints – Video Sign Language (VSL)
• Ensure the appropriate number of working headphones are available for students testing Pidgin Signed English for EOCEP
• Adjust the volume on each workstation to a comfortable level• Check student accommodations in Test Setup (eDIRECT) to ensure
Video Sign Language has been assigned• Do not use student test tickets to test that software is working.
OTT logins should be used for these purposes.
Network Requirements• All testing devices should have access to the Internet and DRC
servers using HTTP/HTTPS protocols on ports 80 and 443• All firewalls should allow connectivity on ports 80 and 443• Whitelist the following file types, both internally and externally:
enc, exe (for updates), gif, html, jar, jpeg, xml• Prioritize/whitelist INSIGHT traffic on: firewalls, Internet packet
shaper, routers, switches, proxies, other network devices• Whitelist theses URLs on content filtering systems or other
proxy/firewall software that is used locally:http://sc-insight-client.drcedirect.com for HTTPhttps://sc-insight.drcedirect.com for HTTPS (secure HTTP)https://wbte.drcedirect.com
Testing Site Manager(TSM)
TSMWhat you need to know…• Allows students to continue testing if internet connection fails
(response caching)• Reduces Internet traffic by approximately 50% by caching test
content (content caching) • 1 TSM recommended for every 150 simultaneous testers
(utilization of HVA/VSL increases the number of TSMs needed)• Highly recommended whenever possible• Mandatory for oral (HVA/TTS) and video sign language (VSL)
testing accommodations

Testing DevicesiPads
iPadsWhat you need to know…• iPad 2 or newer (iPad minis are not supported)• iOS 8.1.3 or newer • Each device must be connected to the Internet and to the TSM, if
applicable• To distribute (deploy) the INSIGHT App (DRC INSIGHT.ipa) you must
use a Mobile Device Management (MDM) software tool• All settings can be configured with a MDM that supports Managed
App Configuration • Guided Access must be enabled and activated on each device before
testing• Oral administration (HVA) or video sign language (VSL) testing
available
iPad System Requirements
iPadsConfiguration Options
1. If your MDM supports the Managed App Configuration feature, you can use the MDM to deploy the INSIGHT configuration file to all iPad devices
2. If your MDM does not support the Managed App Configuration feature, you can use MDM to distribute the INSIGHT App to the iPad devices, but you must manually configure each iPad by using the System Readiness Check
iPadsInstallation - MDM with Managed App1. Install MDM and enroll iPads2. Install Testing Site Manager (TSM)
• Using a TSM is mandatory for oral (HVA/TTS) and video (VSL) testing accommodations
• TSM software should be installed on a Windows, Mac (OS X), or Linux machine
• Using a TSM with iPads adds an additional layer of test security as this would prevent DRC INSIGHT from being accessed outside of district or school’s network
• If iPads are issued to students who test at multiple schools within a district, you may want to set up district-level TSM(s) specifically for iPads that are accessible to all the schools using them
iPadsInstallation - MDM with Managed App3. Configure MDM iPad group with system settings, if MDM
allows:• Configure Guided Access• Per the tech guide, it is not necessary to turn off all of the above
settings for SC because there are only MC/TE test questions; the only setting that requires special configuration is Guided Access.
iPadsInstallation - MDM with Managed App4. Access eDIRECT for software; Test Setup/General
Information (Permission for Online Testing – Secured Resources is needed for access)
5. Download the following two files:• DRC INSIGHT.ipa• ManagedAppConfig.plist
iPadsInstallation - MDM with Managed App6. In the MDM, edit the DRC INSIGHT configuration file to
supply TSM values • Note: you may want to take information from the
DRCConfiguration.json file from an already-configured/installed desktop device that has successfully connected to a TSM; the values from this file can be copied into the ManagedAppConfig.plist file

iPadsWorking with Guided Access• What you need to know:
• Guided Access is the iPad feature that puts the device into kiosk mode
• To ensure test security, DRC INSIGHT will not operate without Guided Access enabled
• A four-digit numeric passcode is required for configuration; this passcode is used to enter and exit Guided Access during testing, and therefore, must be shared with Test Administrators. It should not be shared with students.
• To configure manually on each device:• Settings-General-Accessibility-Guided Access• Turn Guided Access on and click Set
Passcode• Enter/re-enter four-digit passcode• Click Home button to exit Settings
iPadsWorking with Guided Access• To begin testing, the Test Administrator or student should
enable Guided Access:• Launch DRC INSIGHT• Triple-click Home button quickly; the message Guided Access
Enabled should display• Student may log in to test
• To exit testing, the Test Administrator should exit Guided Access after student has submitted test:• Triple-click Home button quickly and enter four-digit Guided
Access passcode• Press End and then Exit
Testing DevicesChromebooks (non-touch)
Non-Touch ChromebooksWhat you need to know…• Only non-touch devices are supported at this time; if your devices allow
touch function to be disabled, it may be possible to run INSIGHT if used with a mouse or touchpad
• DRC INSIGHT will not interfere with other Chromebook applications and will not prevent students from using Chromebooks with other applications when not testing. During testing, the application will be locked down
• Initial setup currently involves touching every device; alternate options are being explored to make configuration easier
• Each device must be connected to the Internet and to the TSM, if applicable• Prior to configuring, each device should be enrolled in the Device Manager
found within Google Apps for Education• Whitelist this URL so Chromebooks can communicate with DRC’s Device
