During the World Cup...

There was a reduction in the crime rate in South Africa The amount of money spent for sexual services was much lower than anyone anticipated

(there were even newspaper articles on the very issue)... -Check out this article on CNN’s website: “Soccer fans shun hookers for art’s sake” I truly believe is was the hand of God slowing down prostitution during the World Cup

(the following statistics are taken from a ministry we partnered with called Justice ACTS):

11,935 at risk were Traffick Proofed (preventative information on human trafficking taught)

1,920 Trained in Counter Human Trafficking, Prostitution Outreach, Strategic Intercession and Traffick Proof

26,840 Pieces of counter-trafficking information handed out- Including 6,000 beer mats targeting male sex tourists with one website launched www.thetruthisn’tsexy.co.za

600 Participants in Project 2:19’s Cape Town 24/7 Prayer House - 1,160 hours of prayer and outreach! (Run by Project 2:19).

200 (minimum) prostituted women reached out to on the streets of South Africa.

1,100,000 viewers of a Public Service Announcement, reported to have made it onto city run fan park screens (Created by Media Village—YWAM).

2 million reached by media reporting on the work of Justice ACTs.

6 rescues of trafficking victims, where JA staff were personally involved. Also….

Churches and ministries here in South Africa partnered together to combat slavery!

Approximately 125 women in the sex industry taken out brothels/strip clubs/places where they were being held as victims or there illegally...so much more work to be done!

There are new initiatives for 24/7 prayer here in South Africa

On a personal note...

I am getting a new brother-in-law! My sister, Autumn, got engaged :) Welcome to the family Ryan!

I fully believe that all of the amazing things that happened during this World Cup

are directly related to prayer and the Hand of God moving in South Africa. I am

amazed at what He has done and is continuing to do in this nation.

make a better life for themselves. I am so challenged

by his life. Rainbow of Hope is an amazing orphanage

that takes in kids from abusive situations. One of the

little girls I met is 6 years old and had been raped by

her father for the last 2 years. The staff at the orphan-

age have been working on rehabilitating her. Part of

Rainbow of Hope’s vision is to disciple the parents of

the children in their care, so they can be healthy parents

who raise healthy children. Amen to that!

Some of my favorite moments these last few weeks

have been volunteering at a Soup Kitchen, run by an

incredible South African man, as well as going to an

orphanage called Rainbow of Hope. I am so encour-

aged to see the passion these South Africans have for

the ‘outcasts of society’. Pastor John (who runs the

Soup Kitchen) is a musician and uses the finances

from his music sales to provide meals for street peo-

ple. He sets up programs for them to learn, share and

lem is the lack of knowl-

edge they have; whether

it is about STD’s, the

law, healthcare, etc. I

feel that this is part of

what God is calling me

to...to educate and bring

awareness. I am not

fully sure what this will

look like, but this next

season in Australia will be a

time for me to grow in this,

as I will have an opportu-

nity to train people on the

issues of human slavery and

how to combat it.

<—This scripture has

definitely been one the

Lord continues to lay on

my heart during this

time in SA. Whether I

am talking to ladies in

prostitution, street chil-

dren, or men I meet at

the soup kitchen, I real-

ize that part of the prob-

Hosea 4.6

“My people

perish for lack

of knowledge.”

Mercy and truth have met

together; righteousness

and peace have kissed

(Psalm 85:10).
