Romberg Test

Patient closes eyes, places feet together and hands at sides

Normal: Patient should stand still

Abnormal: Patient Sways

Abnormal Romberg Test:Sensory deficit

1) Damage to Peripheral Sensory Receptors (i.e. muscle spindle, Golgi tendon organ)

Damage to PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM is NOT PART OF MS!!!!!

2) Damage to Sensory Pathways/Neurons in Spinal Cord

3) Damage to Brain neurons: cerebellum, cranial nerve VIII and cerebrum
