TRANSCRIPT

Post-apocalyptic

I am legend has a slow-paced soundtrack. This highlights the idea of isolation and loneliness as the protagonist within the film, although he is with his dog, he is the only human and therefore could link to the busyness within the film- slow-paced referring to there only being one people left, so there is little life of humans left.

During The Walking Dead opening, it has a eerie, fast-paced (but not too fast) soundtrack to create an affect on the audience. It makes it feel like there is something waiting to happen, which makes the audience interested and intrigued. It could relate to the speed of their adrenaline, which influenced the pace of the soundtrack, also indicating that a fight for survival is taking place.

The hunger games soundtrack is similar to The walking dead- in terms of pace. It is not slow, like ‘I am legend’ but it is not fast which will change the mood and atmosphere of the film. It indicates a fight for survival as it could link to the pace of the characters running when completing the challenge.

The roads soundtrack is very slow paced, which enhances the idea of isolation and loneliness. It also fits to the genre as it includes an explosion which wipes out a lot of the population and therefore there is only a small amount of people left, who are still fighting for survival.

The post-apocalyptic soundtracks that we have studied has influenced our chosen soundtrack for our post-apocalyptic opening as it allows us to get an insight to what style, tempo, tone and beat is used within our chosen genre. Alongside this, it allowed us to produce an accurate piece of music by having those soundtracks which have influenced us and helped to expand our knowledge further on what is appropriate within certain films.
