Soundtrack of My Life

Back to School Activity

Looking for a fun and unique way to get to know your students! Ask them

to write about the “Soundtrack of Their Life

or Summer”.

This download includes the following 7 pages! - Soundtrack of My Life Activity - Soundtrack of My Summer Activity - CD Cover / Track List Worksheet for each - Writing Template / Brainstorming Worksheet for each Each activity asks the students to create a soundtrack to represent their lives or to represent their summer. Both are a great way to get to know your students at the start of a new school year! Also a great way to look at song lyrics and analyze their meaning. Extension Activities - ask students to find and identify figurative language / poetry

terms in their songs - ask students to present their two favorite songs to the class - take turns playing some of the songs that students picked and

see if others in the class can guess whose song it is - have students look for themes in their songs or the songs of

other students in the class Thanks so much for your purchase! ~Addie

Create a soundtrack that best represents your summer holiday. What mood or feelings best sum up the summer for you?

Is there a common theme you can find to describe the summer?

Create a playlist of 8-10 songs that best represents your summer. Include the title of the song and the name of the artist on your

playlist.

For each song you choose, please write 3-4 sentences to explain why you picked the song.

What was it about the song that appealed to you?

What line or lines in the song really represent you and your life?

What themes or ideas in the song reminded you of your summer?

Create an album / CD cover for your playlist. Keep in mind the mood and feeling of your playlist and use symbols and colors that best

represent you and your summer.

Have fun picking the songs that best represent you

and your vacation!

For extra fun why, not make a real playlist on your computer or MP3 player!
