• The only letters that can start a syllable are letters that can start a word in Spanish normally.

with mp or rt or nt. Split these consonant groups.

• a, e, and o are strong vowels and they can stand by themselves.

• leal has to be split le and al.• You cannot have two strong

vowels side by side in the same syllable.
