Josephus on Jesus (Ant. 3:3) “Now, there was about this time, Jesus,

a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works – a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ; and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him, for he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thou-sand other wonderful things concerning him; and the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.”

The Claims of Inspiration

The Scriptures claim for themselves inspiration (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 3:15-16)

This places a burden on scripture to be: Historically accurate Geographically accurate

Archaeology and secular history establish the dependability of the New Testament scriptures, and give evidence as to its inspiration.

The Faith of Stephen (Acts 7) Then they cried out with a loud

voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." Other Early Christians (Acts 8)

Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. 3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. 4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.
