A vision come true..
AIMThe mission SOS began with a vision. The team SOS came together and ransacked their brains
to find an idea which is new to SPSU, refreshing to students, informative, and uses real world
application of concepts that we have studied theoretically. Thats when the idea of SOS came
up.SOS, Sound Of SPSU, is our own FM station which will provide not only music but will also keep
you informed of all the current happenings across the Globe.We have planned to use SOS in way that is both, entertaining and informative. It will broadcast
music, chat shows and news collected from campus, city and world. So SOS is a boon for the
students who are lagging behind in this competitive world due to lack of general knowledge.Also, in a residential campus, the students often face a number of problems, which go unheard
and unattended. A chat show can be used to generate opinion of students and forward it to
responsible authorities.Also, SOS will be truly democratic! A FM station of the students, by the students and for the
students. The station is formed by the students and will be run by the students. Such radio
shows will bring out the immense talent from the students as well as it will improve the
communication skill among the students.
In a nutshell, we are providing SPSU its sound. Come on SPSU, speak up!TECHNOLOGY
The future engineers have used the simplest of means to devise the circuit. The key features of
the circuit that we have formed is its simplicity and low maintenance cost.The circuit used is shown below:

The transmitter is an electronic device which, usually with the aid of an antenna, propagates an
electromagnetic signal such as radio, television, or other telecommunications.
The circuit requires a small input voltage of 4-6volts and can transmit sound
upto a range of 5-10metres. Its range can be easily increased by using an amplifier which can
increase the range upto 10times. Also, the team has designed another circuit using an IC
BA1404, which can transmit upto a range of 5km easily. However, since the initial
implementation cost for the circuit is quiet high, we have limited our first step to the cheaper
circuit shown.
The final circuit is as small as a match box and since it is free of obsolete wiring technology, you
can carry it anywhere easily. You can also use it in your room or even your car for your iPod by
simplySupplying the transmitter with just 1.5V voltage supply (single AA battery cell) andminimizing the length of the antenna.

The circuit shown has already been developed and tested by us. The story of its development is
narrated by the team members in their own words below:Work in our words:
1. Puneet Thakral My first task was to form a team. I, with the help of some team members,
formed the team, selecting people on the basis of their abilities to handle various tasks. The
team eventually selected me as team-leader. It added the responsibility of bringing the team
together and dividing the work between them. But the task of leader did not end here; I guided
and supported every team member as and when required. I contributed towards the circuit
design. I worked on designing a circuit that was unique and original, and yet simple enough to
be understood by everyone. After thinking of all such possible circuits, my next job was to try
each of them on Simulink software and check their working before forwarding them to
implementation team.
2. Aman Jain- My work also began with team selection and aided Puneet at various times. My
task was to implement the design forwarded by the designers with Arpana. In other words, we
were given the blue print and raw materials and our task was to form the building. With the
support of my team members, I formed the circuit, tested it and implemented it on a PCB
(printed circuit board.) Also, I worked on publicity of SOS by creating its facebook page and
website. I spent some time with other team members on specific tasks of the project,
concerning my area of expertise, to assist the team in reaching project goals.
3. Aishwarya Pareek- My task can be summarized into two words, Planning and Presentation.
My job was basically mind work. I divided the tasks and set up the deadlines for our team. Also,
I handled the records and accounts for our team. Documenting all the work, i.e., Writingsynopsis and reports was my duty. For this, I had to keep an eye on all the proceedings from the
beginning till the end. I also worked with Aman on creative logos and write ups for publicity.
4. Arpana Karna- I worked with Aman and on circuit implementation. We took the components
and a design on paper and gave them a FM station. First we tested the circuit on a simple
breadboard, tested it and when we became sure of its working we helped in implementing it on
a printed circuit board. I also helped Aishwarya in documentation but it was the task of circuit
realization that forced Aman and me to revise all the theorems and concepts that were taught
to us.
5. Anil Patidar- I and Puneet have worked on circuit designing. We wanted a circuit with
Minimum implementation cost, simplest design and yet high efficiency. It was a mind numbing
Task, so we made dozens of design and then finally selected the one which met all our
parameters. We divided the whole circuit into a set of block diagrams and then implemented
each Block and then combining it we implemented the circuit. And with the help of
implementation team we completed the circuit. It was my first work as a team and I have learnt

many things from all the group members. Besides this, I shared the responsibility of publicity
with Aman with a Facebook page and a website.
6. Ankit Jain- I worked with Rameshwar in the designing of the circuit layout for PCB designing.
After circuit had been designed and verified using software named Simulink Software
(Evaluation Version), some small tasks were still remaining. The circuit which was designed onthe Bread-Board is not stable or permanent till it could it be designed on a PCB. As we know
that the circuit designed on the Bread-Board is not permanent as it has the holes which cannot
be sealed, so there is a chance of plugging out the wires from the connecting holes which are
present on the Board, so thats why we have chosen to work for designing the PCB with the
circuit designed on the board. We are working to embed it on a PCB which made the circuit
complete.7. Rameshwar Meena- My task was to implement the circuit on PCB. It gave the final touch to
the circuit which was designed after great efforts from my team members. Desiging a circuit on
bread bord doesnt give circuit stability and there are lot of chances of loose connection ,so we
made the circuit on PCB. PCB designing is a new technique which needed Ankit and me to do a
lot of study before we could implant the circuit. We used 2 layer bare PCB and then did
component soldering.
8. Himanshu Gupta- After a circuit has been designed, some work still remains. We had a circuit
which can broadcast for a certain frequency, but what is that frequency? And what will be the
range of the circuit? Thats where I entered the scene. My job was to check the broadcasting
ability of the circuit and work with others on ways to improve the output of the station.
9. Manav Bordia- Being a fresher, I can say that that working on SOS was a learning experience
for me. Since the seniors have their expertise in various other tasks, Shekhar, Anand and Iworked on circuit optimization. We assembled the components required for implementing the
circuit.
10. Shekhar Chanvaria- Along with Manav and Anand,I was selected for SOS through interview.
The idea of forming a FM station enthralled me. Working with the team, I learned various new
concepts and developed technical skills. I studied the components as my task was to optimize
the circuit. So basically, I collected the components from various shops and learned how to use
them in forming the circuit.
11. Anand Munot- The word music drew me towards this project and I was lucky enough to get
selected in team SOS. Being a fresher, my work was limited to find the components and learn
their use in the circuit.This is the story of SOS till date. We are ready with a simple circuit which can transmit music
