DESCRIPTION
Abstract from IA Summit 2010 presentation:Let's face it, user research can be a total bore…especially for the research subjects. Answering numerous survey and interview questions can lull them to sleep. They are taking time out of their busy day to answer a slew of boring questions when they would probably rather be doing something else. As a result, the data we collect from existing techniques can be suboptimal…especially when the subject is disengaged due to the use of antiquated research methods.So, we have developed a new user research technique that produces better results, because it engages research subjects in a fun and tactile game format. Research subjects like this method because: * it is tactile * it is a game * it is not boring * the supplies are edibleThe method asks the facilitator to use commonly available household supplies to engage each research subject. Using the supplies, each research subject can be independently asked to prioritize any number of different topic areas including pain points, critical business goals, performance metrics, or even job responsibilities.Come and attend this session to learn how you can use this "game" to produce not only the usual qualifying data but also rich, quantifiable data.TRANSCRIPT
