Sophos Installation - (Windows 7 & 10) Step 1:

To start, visit the link https://home.sophos.com/en-us/edu/umass.aspx

Step 2:

You need to verify your eligibility, for a free edition of Sophos, by using your Umass email. Click “Get Sophos Home” and check your Umass email for a verification email.

If you already have a Sophos account, then login to it and use the coupon code (check step 3) to register for Umass’ free edition.

Step 3:

Check you Umass email for a Sophos verification email (no-reply@mail.home.sophos.com).

The email has a link to a Sophos account creation page. Click on “Create Account” and start creating your new account.

If you already have a Sophos account, copy the code in the email and apply it to your Sophos account (check step 9).

Step 4:

The link should bring you to a page like the one below. Register a new account with your Umass email. Click “Create Account” to continue.

If you already have a Sophos account, skip this step.

Step 5:

Login to Sophos home (https://my.sophos.com/en-us/login/) with your new account and click “Add new device”.

If you already have Sophos, skip this step.

Step 6:

Click “Install” and download Sophos onto your device. This will install Sophos on the device you are currently on.

If you already have Sophos, skip this step. It should already be installed on your device.

Step 7:

Make sure you have an internet connection during the install.

If you already have Sophos, skip this step. It should already be installed on your device.

Step 8:

Open the Sophos Home app and customize your account settings.

If you already have Sophos, DO NOT skip this step.

Step 9:

Check your “My Account” tab to ensure that your free trial lasts 4 years.

If you already have Sophos, click on “Have a coupon?” and insert the coupon code, from the verification email. Once you submit it, your Umass edition of Sophos should be activated.

Features and Troubleshooting - (Windows 7 & 10) To explore Sophos’ features, click on the “Antivirus Protection” tab.

You can begin by scheduling when you want Sophos to scan your device for threats.

You can add file and folder “Exceptions”, Sophos will not scan will these for threats.

Click on the “Web Protection” tab to configure its settings.

Manage features like “Web Protection” and “Download Reputation”.

Setup “Website Exceptions” so Sophos will not scan these websites or block them.

Setup Sophos to block, unblock, or warn you about websites based on their content.

To troubleshoot issues with Sophos, click on the “Troubleshooting” link.
