Too Bad For Me My Love
Too bad for me my love
I fear I’ve lost my way
Too bad for me my love
I never got the chance to say
I love you
I love you like the morning sun
When dewdrops glisten
Upon the meadow
Where blossoms bloom
In full array
I love you like the light of moon
Casting reflections
Upon the lake
Where fairies dance
And Willow Trees sway
I love you like the angel song
In heavens halls
Where trumpets sound
Sweet bells ring
And minstrels play
I love you like life itself
Where children laugh
On earths floor
Filled with Dreams of innocence
And ships come in from far away

Electrifying blue
Tints of amber like a bird of prey
His eyes, his eyes, his eyes
A rich dark brown
Long, slightly tangled but beautiful
His hair, his hair, his hair
A crimson red that comes from recent scars
Weary and older than it should be
His face, his face, his face
An ancient chain that hides secrets
The black engraved upon the silver hew of metal
His medallion, his medallion, his medallion
A tawny, golden color
A footstep left upon the sand
He’s gone, he’s gone, he’s gone
A long forgotten memory
The opening of a new life
I should’ve told, I should’ve told, I should’ve told
I should’ve told them.

Pain
The one thing that is eternal
No one seems to feel what you feel
Hurt
Losing sense of control
Endless scratching, bleeding
Friends are hurting too
They don’t know how to make you better
Depression
A veil of sadness
Can’t seem to disappear
Sometimes you feel like giving in
To the darkness
Anger
Angry at yourself
You want to stop
But for some reason you can’t
Memory
Can’t recall what happened
How you started
But you still find yourself
Bloody
Hiding
Covering up the scars
You don’t want anyone to see

The truth
Love
Your friends mean so much to you
Your friends love you too
Talk
Open up
Someone will help you
Find that sunshine
Dream
There’s a place
That’s full of light and beauty
Waiting for you
Listen
Keep holding on
You are a brave soul
The brightest star
Live
Find something to believe in
All will become silver glass
Trust
We are here
Won’t let you fall
We’ll be your light

Eyes Open
Tonight, my head hurts. Why did it have to be tonight
out of all nights? I sigh, wiping the sweat from my brow. It’s
a week before the coronation. I rise from my bed, knowing
that I have to venture out beyond the confines of the palace.
Not a single person except for a few of my closest friends
are aware of the visions that torment me. I’m a seer; I’m sup-
posed to be able to look into the future. Some would consid-
er this to be a gift. I know better, though. The vision thing is a
curse. I could be dead tomorrow because of them.
There’s only been one thing that has helped me. It’s
more of person really. Is this person human? Maybe, I’m not
sure. His name is Connor. He looks to be about my age with
longish dark brown hair that is allowed to hang loosely. Con-
nor’s eyes are blue and occasionally they have hints of amber
in them, like a falcon’s eyes. He rarely speaks and if at all it’s
to help me understand. I don’t know how but somehow we
are connected to each other.
Despite the fact that he had been a complete stranger
to me, I felt like I could trust him. We had each spoken only
one word to each other, our names. I remembered how he
had responded when I had spoken my name, Cedric. It was a
look of fear and pity and I swore that his eyes glinted the col-
or of amber and that a single tear rolled down his face. We
had then gone our separate ways. I had not known at that
point that this one person would influence my world as much
as it did.
I gripped the reins of my horse riding as fast as I could. My
head hurt so much but I had to keep my concentration. This
time it wasn’t towards the village it was towards the cottage
that Connor had once shown me. I hadn’t shown this cot-
tage to anyone and probably never would. That’s not entirely
true. I had considered showing the cabin to Saraphia but had
decided not to remembering that he had told me that no one
else should know of its existence.
As the cottage came into view I slowed down and
allowed my horse to come to a stop. I tied the horse to a tree
before making my way to the door that led inside. A few can-
dles gave light to the inside and so I knew that he was there,
9
waiting for me. Although I could have just walked in I decided
to knock. After a few moments the door opened and I saw
Connor standing there beckoning me inside. I stepped over
the threshold and into the cottage taking in the place that
I had grown to love. Thud, the door closed shut behind me.
Connor went into the living room choosing to sit down in one
of the chairs that faced the fireplace in which a steady fire
was going. I sat down in the chair beside him and for the first
time that night I managed to get a good look at his face.
He seemed older somehow, worn out and tired. There
were recent scars on both his cheeks and his was longer and
messier than it had been before. Connor was in definite need
of a shave and for whatever reason his eyes had lost a bit of
their luster. I also noticed the cuts on his wrists although he
tried to hide them from me. This was someone who had been
hurt, tortured even. Something had happened to him but I
was almost afraid to ask him about the details of whatever
incident had occurred. We hadn’t seen each other in almost a
year.
“What happened to you, Connor?”
“It doesn’t matter,” he replied brushing my question aside.
“So why are we are?” I inquired.
“In your vision, what did you see?”
“I saw people running and then this place. What about you?”
He was silent for a moment before answering. “Relatively the
same thing. Listen, I need to tell you something,” he said,
leaning in closer to me.
“Yes?”
“You need to bring Saraphia to this place.”
I tilted my head a bit to the side. “Why?”
“Look, something big is going to happen and she needs to be
aware of the cottage.”
“What kind of something?”
“You know I can’t tell you. I’d be breaking the most important
rule of seeing if I told you.”
“Does it involve me in any way?” I say quietly.
Connor’s eyes shift back and forth as he tries to think of an
answer. “Yes, it does involve you in some way.”
“Oh,” I reply, my heart filling heavy with dread.

He doesn’t say anything more but chooses to gaze into the
depths of the fire with the embers rising. I stare into the
fire myself for a moment, then as usual I get distracted. As I
stare off in the opposite direction, the candles go out one by
one.

LIAM
Who are you?
CONNOR
Connor. Who might you and your companions be?
LIAM
The name’s Liam. The others are Riku and Cecile.
RIKU
Hello.
[Cecile nods in Connor’s direction]
CONNOR
Well it’s great to meet you.
CECILE
Why weren’t you at the coronation?
LIAM
[giving her a warning look] Cecile...
CONNOR
I was headed over but I was attacked.
[Cecile, Liam and Riku exchange looks]
CONNOR
What? What is it?
RIKU
Connor, the Shadow Demons launched an attack on the palace.
CONNOR
Are Cedric and Mariposa okay?
LIAM
The thing is.... Cedric and Mariposa are gone.
CECILE
Convenient, isn’t it?
RIKU
Were your attackers Shadow Demons per chance?
CONNOR
Yes but their numbers were hardly enough to attack the palace and succeed.
LIAM
How many were there?
CONNOR
Three to five maybe. There was also a woman in a red dress with them.
RIKU
Well that’s interesting.
CONNOR
So what brings you three out here anyway?
LIAM
We have to scout the neighboring villages to see if anything happened elsewhere.
13
CONNOR
Mind if I join you?
[Cecile opens her mouth to protest but Alex sushes her]
LIAM
Sounds like a good idea. Strength in numbers.
RIKU
Alex, Connor said himself that the Shadow Demons knocked him out. I don’t think it’s very wise to...
LIAM
Well he seems fine now. You are okay right?
CONNOR
[smiles] Of course I am. It’s not as though I suffered any flesh wounds.
[Forced laughs from Cecile, Riku and Liam]

Returning Home
Will we make it home tonight?
We almost lost our sense of light.
Do we flee or do we stand and fight?
Will death claim us in the tide
Or will we live to see the sunrise?
No matter what, I’ll be by your side
My brother, my friend.

Never Wanted
The prince who turned traitor
Never wanted the throne
The beast that is locked in a cell
Never wanted to hurt anyone
The girl who sells her body for a living
Never wanted to be so desperate
The man working in the fields
Never wanted to be a slave
The teenager who poisons her body
Never wanted be addicted
The man looking to provide
Never wanted to smuggle
The pirate on the high seas
Never wanted to steal
The gunman in the night
Never wanted to pull the trigger
And the soldier who set out for war
Never wanted to die
