Dr. Fanara has extensive experience inhydrologic and hydraulic modeling and stormwater quality analysis through her research (involving stormchasing,laboratory analysis, and field investigation) as well as almost 10 years of engineering consulting experience. Shenow manages the Environmental Health Program at Mote Marine Laboratory, investigating the effects of marineand freshwater chemicals on the environment and public health, as well as developing, designing, andimplementing strategies to alleviate those impacts. Dr. Fanara was recently featured on the Science Channeltelevision series, Mythbusters.

April 3: Born Again Environmentalism: How Religion Can Turn Creation Care into an AmericanVirtueDr. Gregory Hitzhusen – School of Environment and Natural Resources, The Ohio State UniversityAssistant Professor of Professional Practice of Religion, Ecology and Sustainability in the School of Environmentand Natural Resources at The Ohio State University (OSU); he was the founding Director and now serves on theBoard of Ohio Interfaith Power and Light. His work and research center on the intersection of faith and theenvironment and on developing partnerships between scientific and faith communities; his teaching focuses onreligion and ecology, environmental communications, and community sustainability projects.

April 17: The Corix Plains Institute and the future of environmental research and education in OklahomaDr. Jeff Kelly – Corix Endowed Chair and Director of the Corix Plains InstituteThe Corix Plains Institute is envisioned as a hub linking interdisciplinary environmental science and decision-making at the University of Oklahoma. The Institute will serve as a nexus among the university’s surveyorganizations and stakeholders in the private, public, and non-governmental sectors.
