Now then, anyone who knows me, knows that I love the Philippines, awesome places, awesome beaches, food, people, culture.

However, it’s like anywhere else in the world, nowhere is totally perfect. You have corruption from the government, high temperatures, crazy humidity, rain like you have never seen but there are some things that just make living there so much fun.

Have a look at some of these crazy pictures, it happens only in the Philippines, mind you, you will probably see this in many far flung eastern countries also.

Food and Drink

Soda in a plastic bag

This is probably one of the craziest things, you go to a local store and buy a soda, which comes in a bottle only for them to open it at the cash till and pour the contents into a plastic bag and stick a straw in it.

Food Cart

There are loads of these everywhere and you can have some of the best tasting food from them too.

Halo Halo

This is the famous Halo Halo which literally means Mix Mix. It has to be tried.

Filipino desert called Halo Halo literally means mix mix

Balut

Balut is a local delicacy and is really not for the faint of heart.

This a picture from the recent Tropical Think Tank (get the low down here) I recently attended when some of the attendees actually tried Balut for the 1st time.

Tropical Think Tank 2015 – Balut Eating Competition

These brave people all deserve a name check from l-r you can just see Grant Merriel then we have the awesome James Schramko, the unforgettable Victor Lazzaro, the super funny Matthew Kimberley, the beautiful Amy Schmittauer, the youngest attendee Claudio Quezada, the gorgeous Merrymaker Sisters and finally the amazing Lewis Howes.

You will notice that Lewis is showing the contents of the egg which is making the Merrymaker Sisters wish they hadn’t been so hasty to give it a try and the reason why is…….

Inside the egg is a developing duck embryo. I have never tried it, yet!

However I have tried tamilok which is a delicacy from Puerta Princesa. Tamilok is…..

Woodworm. And this is how it is served.

Tamilok – Delicious…. Not!!! But does taste chickeny

Ice Cream seller in the middle of the ocean

And you can’t have ice cream without a drink of coconut juice

The crazy weather

When it rains in the Philippines, it rains and this is what happens.

Boy carrying his dog through flood waters

The locals don’t care, out comes the table, chairs and Drinking Red Horse beer in the aftermath of heavy rains

Nothing like the pool volleyball played by some of the attendees at the Tropical Think Tank in the Crimson Pool, but it’s close.

Kids playing basketball despite the flood

Beautiful weather and Views

The Philippines has some of the most amazing white sandy beaches. I have never seen sand so white before. The country has over 7,500 islands and you can see some awesome sunsets and views too.

Beautiful beaches

Travelling in the Philippines

In Western countries you simply wouldn’t get away with what you’re going to see in this next lot of pictures because there is too much health and safety and people saying we can’t do this and we can’t do that without a risk assessment. It’s a bloody nanny culture and simply a time and money wasting exercise.

Just get on with it like they do in the Philippines.

Jeepney in the Philippines. Who says you can’t get 100 people in a 10 seater

This is extreme carpool called habal habal

Not the usual Ambulance but certainly one you may see in the remote areas – Bonkers

Grab Taxi is an app on your mobile when you want to order a taxi. This is their marketing.

The only way to travel – in the cheap seats

Other Day to Day Happenings

When their local boxing hero Manny Pacquiao is fighting this is what happens….

Deserted streets during Manny Pacquiao fight

And then this is what happens when the fight is on the big screen in the next street…

The other street looks like this

Moving Home

In the Philippines, moving house means exactly that…

Relaxing in the street while moving house

Husband Day Care Center

Only in the Philippines…

Local Videoke Contist Contest, Not sure what the prizes pricesprices are
