DESCRIPTION

GDG Belgaum is looking for 3 moonshot ideas for our upcoming Solve for X event.. Each moonshot project addresses a big, global problem, with a radical new solution/perspective/approach and leverages a breakthrough in science or technology. This combination of things - a Huge Problem to solve, a Radical Solution for solving it, and Breakthrough Technology to make it happen - is the essence of a technology moonshot.

Moonshots live in the gray area between audacious projects and pure science fiction;

instead of mere 10% gains, they aim for 10x improvements.

What Does a Moonshot Proposal Cover

A Solve for X tech pioneer needs to describe his or her moonshot using the following format:

• What is the big, global problem: (1-2 mins max)

• Give an overview of the scale of the problem, including key stats.

• Use strong visuals to put a face to the numbers.

• What happens if we do nothing?

• e.g. Millions of people die in car accidents each year, and billions of hours of wasted in gridlock traffic in both developed and developing countries.

What Does a Moonshot Proposal Cover

What is the radical new solution/perspective/approach? (3-4 mins max)• How have you turned the problem on it’s head?

• What is the transformational perspective-change that allows us to approach the problem differently.

• e.g. Take the driver out of the equation and have the cars drive themselves.

What Does a Moonshot Proposal Cover

What is the breakthrough science or technology that allows the radical solution to become a reality? (4-6 minutes)• What is the scientific or technical proof of concept that makes you believe

your idea is credible and will scale?

• Elaborate of the technical details of how your solution will actually work?

• What is the technical roadmap for the next X years?

• e.g. Summary of the decades of work that have gone into sensor technology, mapping, advanced robotics + how the tech is scaling to become more accurate/efficient/economic.

What Does a Moonshot Proposal Cover

What are the 1-2 biggest challenges you face to making your moonshot happen? (1 minute)• In addition to the remarkable ideas the audience generates to help you, what

challenges would you like them to focus on?
