Smart mill is an agro-industry facility capable of receiving, drying, storing, milling and selling products from processed cereal grains. A compact solution to optimize costs and increase profits.
Smart mill is the targeted solution for small rural producers of Africa enabling value creation from agricultural production, locally and inclusively, allowing control of effective technology even away from large centers.

The Smart Mill enhances the features of a modern milling plant, equipped with cleaning, storing and grinding areas with the possibility to choose the type of end product and to produce electricity for extra utilization in a community environment. The Smart Mill requires an area of around 1,000 square meters and provides a covered facility of about 500 square meters.
The milling plant has a working capacity 500 kg/h of grains and guarantees about 100-120 kg/h of by-product in the form of bran and other straws that are intended for the production of electric power via gasification.To address the plant’s own energy consumption of about 50 Kw/h, the facility can be equipped with an integrated PV system.

PRESENTATIONSmart mill may receive around 600 MT of grain a year. This value can be increased by adding storage units. It has the ability to dry various cereals before storage and if necessary can provide a drying service for third parties. The milling plant is built with the most stateof-the-art technology and is able to diversify production with capacity up to 500 kg/h.

DRYERThe dryer for cereals is an agricultural machine used to remove moisture from the grain in order to facilitate storage operations and to prepare the product for further processing.
The grain drying cycle includes a loading phase, hot air drying with energy from fossil fuels or from gasification, cooling and unloading of the product. This fixed dryer can work up to 24 MT / 24h in a continuous cycle and in an automatic way
SILOSThe silo consists of a skeleton mounted with corrugated metal sheets of galvanized structural steel S 350GD + Z 450-EN 10147. Junctions between elements are made using high-strength galvanized bolts while the impermeability of the structure is guaranteed by the use
of thermoplastic sealing and special PVC washers coupled with the hardware. The cover of the silo is formed by a structural galvanized steel roof S 350GD + Z 450 and consists of trapezoidal elements, ribbed with a slope of about 30°.
PREFABRICATION REMOTE CONTROLThe Smart mill can be installed over an area of about 1000 square meters, of which 500 square meters of covered shed and 150 square meters of maneuvre area.
The steel structure FE 360 painted and/or galvanized steel is coated with sandwich type panels in painted sheet with internal insulating polyurethane foam.
SMART MILL features state-of-the-art connectivity technologies that allow any single unit to work together in multiple network configurations, which can be managed locally as well as centrally.
This allows for rational and effective resource utilization in an innovative small-scale agro-industry model

Gasification is the optimal system to feed the SMART MILL with both electric and thermal energy covering all energy needs for drying and milling.
Gasification technology uses biomass that would otherwise need to be disposed of as waste.
This technology is optimal for the SMART MILL as electrical 50kw are sufficient to ensure the milling operation of the plant, while heat can be used both to operate drying cycles and other additional processing cycles for example to obtain precooked or cooked products.
The energy set-up of the SMART MILL features a combination of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, to meet energy requirements of the equipment at any point in time.The performance of all energy equipment can be monitored from remote through the connectivity set-up.
The SMART MILL is designed to allow expansion of the generation capacity through additional solar PV or micro wind add-ons and interconnection with other Planet Innova applications such as the Smart Market and act as a hub for rural electrification in a mini-grid concept.
