Created in 2016, the Mécénat Servier Charity Fund
marked a new stage in the Group’s philanthropic
commitment. With this Fund we can unify our global
solidarity actions, maintain and develop them, and
provide employees with opportunities to get involved
with a variety of associations.
The Fund is part of our social responsibility. Driven by our
Values, we target projects that address essential human
needs. Through the Fund, we put ourselves in service of
the public good by taking part in initiatives related to
health, education and living together in a multitude of
countries.
Mécénat Servier supports a culture of individual and
collective commitment within and throughout the Group.
This dynamic is made possible by the voluntary
contributions of the women and men who are part of our
Group, and who are proud to do their part to address
major societal challenges and help create the world of
tomorrow.

What are the Fund’s focus areas?
We have defined three main areas of engagement: health, education and living together. This is a significant choice as it pushes the boundaries of the typical scope identified as a pharmaceutical company’s mission. We are thereby committed to having a significant impact on society.
What type of relationship do you have with the associations?
We position ourselves as a true partner of the associations we select. We favor open dialogue and co-construction in our long-term alliances. Our support and sponsorship are therefore not passive. On the contrary, our objective is to give employees the opportunity to actively engage in the selected projects, in addition to providing financial support. In so doing, we can make sure that our contributions are effective.
How do you see employee involvement?
We have seen a lot of enthusiasm for the initiatives we’ve launched for the Fund. For example, people were very interested in the skills-based sponsorship project pilot with L’ENVOL in 2017 and the launch of Congé Solidaire® (Solidarity Leaves) with Planète Urgence in 2018. The response is a clear indicator that employees want their volunteering actions to have meaning, and be in keeping with our values: “Care”, “Dare to innovate”, “Grow by sharing” and “Commit to succeed”.

SELECTED INTERVENTION AREAS
From the outset, we have structured
our actions around three key
areas involving important societal
issues where employees can
expect to make a contribution:
• Health
The core of our pharmaceutical
company’s mission focuses on
health and health care. We foster and
promote the provision of support
to families and caregivers, with
a particular focus on children.
• Living together
Aimed at high-risk individuals and
people in poverty to encourage
their integration into society.
• Education
To promote equal opportunities.
FOUR CONCRETE INITIATIVES
We provide partner associations
with both economic and
human resources.
Our action can take four forms:
• Financial support and
donations in kind;
• Skills-based sponsorship;
• Congé Solidaire®
(Solidarity Leave);
• Rounding up salary
(Only in France).
Our multi-pronged approach
means that we can best adapt
our actions according to the
sponsored project and advocate
direct employee involvement.

We are involved in defining the scope
of the projects carried out and we can
provide comprehensive action thanks
to our different forms of engagement.
For example, our partnership with Un
Stage et Après, which assists middle
school pupils from disadvantaged
neighborhoods or rural areas learn
about the professional world, has three
complementary components: financial
aid, skills-based sponsorship and
trainees reception within our teams.
ENCOURAGE THE CREATION
OF NEW PROJECTS
Since the creation of the Mécénat
Servier Charity Fund, we have
actively identified public interest
organizations in France and
abroad with whom we would like
to forge quality partnerships. We
also responded to requests from
associations whose projects were
then submitted to our selection
committee. Since the end of 2018,
we have decided to narrow our focus
through a call for projects via our
website identifying two main targets:
support for sick children and the
precarious situation of women.
LONG TERM STABILITY
The Mécénat Servier Charity Fund is
an allocation guaranteed by the Group,
making possible the sponsorship
of partner associations over several
years. Our initial commitment consists
of at least two years, whenever
possible. We are aware that it is
essential for associations to be able
to project themselves over time. This
stability also offers the possibility of
co-creating larger projects together.
MULTIDIMENSIONAL AND
COMPREHENSIVE ACTION
We are committed to supporting
associations in the most effective way
possible.

This centre, located in Dakar (Senegal),
provides paediatric-cardiology surgery
to meet the significant demands in the
region. It was born out of a collaboration
between the Cuomo Foundation,
La Chaîne de l’Espoir and the
Fann University Teaching Hospital
(Dakar). In order to provide medical
teams with the skills they need to act
independently and self-sufficiently,
Mécénat Servier funded a 6-month
training course with an experienced
team from Ho Chi Minh City Hospital
in Vietnam. Administrative teams have
also undergone management training.
Since its opening in January 2017,
the centre has operated on 462 children
with heart diseases. Since that time,
the partnership has provided care for
children whose parents cannot
afford medical expenses.
To help sponsor the initiative,
Servier employees in France mobilized
and actively participated in Operation
BEST (Billion Steps Together), whose
objective was to accumulate 1 billion
steps. The challenge was taken up
by 1,500 employees who collected
€ 26,000, which made it possible for
nine children to have heart surgery.

ESSENTIAL MOBILIZATION
Mécénat Servier embodies the Group’s
Values and is a mechanism by which
employees can undertake positive
action for their social environment.
CONCRETE AND VARIED
CONTRIBUTIONS
With skills-based sponsorship,
Servier employees in France have
the opportunity to volunteer with
partner associations two days per
year. Following the successful pilot,
conducted with L’ENVOL in 2017,
83 employees took part in
43 missions over 93 days in 2018.
Concrete proof of our solid
commitment: for a two-day mission,
the company gives employees
an additional day for each day
off or day of leave donated.
In 2018, 34 people also volunteered to
take part in an international solidarity
mission with Planète Urgence.
The concept was to complete
international solidarity missions
during two weeks of their vacation.
The mission objectives included
transmitting know-how and
strengthening the self-sufficiency of
local populations through educational
projects for children and adults, as well
as protection of their environment.
For 2019 and 2020, 40 employees
worldwide will go on Congé
Solidaire® (Solidarity Leave).
PROJECT PARTICIPANTS
Mécénat Servier has defined a specific
“solidarity workshop action” format to
assist employees wishing to undertake
projects with associations of their
choice during team seminars. Since
the end of 2018, a call for projects has
also been open to Group employees.
Any employee, member of a
public interest association, has the
opportunity to propose a project-
specific partnership with Mécénat
Servier. Servier employees in
France can directly contribute a
small sum from their salaries to one
of the three partner associations
thanks to microDON platform.

operational mission in the field. I spent a day at the Bondy
branch where, alongside volunteers from various areas of the
association, I took part in activities such as a street-side cafe

“Changing the lives of over 30 families”
— Latin america —
The TECHO project involves constructing
34 emergency houses, a community centre and
two eco-toilets. Employees of subsidiaries in
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico,
Panama, Peru and Ecuador are helping to build
these houses.
• Arithmetic of Good :
“Support for students aged 14 to 18 from
85 orphanages”
— russia —
The aim of the Arithmetic of Good project is to assist
young orphans by encouraging them to continue
their education, offering them technical training and
partnering with them in the labour market. Servier
Russia employees are also actively involved in the
project.
CHILDSIGHT PROJECT LAUNCH WITH
HELEN KELLER INTERNATIONAL
Servier Vietnam has partnered with Mécénat
Servier and Helen Keller International to set up
ChildSight, the first international skills-based
sponsorship project led by Mécénat Servier
Charity Fund.
The aim is to offer disadvantaged children access
to quality eye and vision care and to set up a
sustainable prevention system in partnership
with the Vietnamese ministries of Health and
Education. Thanks to the support of Mécénat
Servier, more than 9,000 students and teachers
