EMPLOYMENT HISTORY



I worked on a full-time basis as a customer and retailer service advisor for Time Retail finance. My rolewas to deal with customers over the phone that were in debt and assist them in the efficient repaymentof their loans and also with general enquiries for the company.

I also had to assist retailers with opening new accounts by assessing the credit histories of those

customers. This work was largely independent and gave me a great sense of achievement of helpingothers.

Voluntary work

Since moving to Leeds in 2005 I have worked in association with Groundwork’s, a government fundedcharity working with under privileged children aged between 12 and 18 who have been excluded fromschool or are involved with drugs or other forms of abuse or disorders. My job was to mentor and assistthem in studying and life skills, I also influenced them to be creative by expressing their thoughts andfeelings .

During the summer of 2006, I did voluntary work at Royal Park Primary School. I spent the month withyoung children from various backgrounds helping to stimulate their body and minds. We took them out on

various occasions to zoo’s and parks. Helping those less fortunate gave me a sense of achievement, asdid being charity monitor for several years at school.

2001 Insight Into Management

After my GCSE’s I attended a course called Insight into Management where I learnt what is involved inrunning a business and all the factors that need to be considered. We were grouped into small companiesand had to face competition and financial difficulties. I now appreciate the need for effective decisionmaking, good communication and targeted marketing. I also learnt about teamwork and effectivemanagement.

2000 Director of a Young Enterprise Company

Whilst studying my GCSE’s I took part in this scheme which is designed to expose students to the realitiesof running a business. By taking part in Young Enterprise I acquired a number of skills such as teamwork,effective communication and time management. As the Finance Manager I had to manage the financialconstraints on a business and also learn how to forecast and manage cash flows. Our successful companysubsequently gained the highest profitability in our year.
