Follow all traffic regulations. Snowmobiles restricted to roads only. Cross traffic only on Soldier Road. All snowmobiles shall have a muffler, brakes, head & tail lights and also a visible flag with a minimum 5 feet above the machine. Anyone 18 years or younger on a snowmobile shall wear an approved safety helmet at all times. It is illegal to operate a snowmobile while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Carry a valid drivers license and proof of insurance. After 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. travel shall be limited to entering or leaving the City of Fairfield. Always carry basic emergency and survival equipment. Winter storms can set in rapidly. Watch the weather. Avoid traveling on lakes. Be cautious of thin ice. Avoid mountainous terrain, especially after heavy snowfalls or periods of high wind or rain. Avoid crossing steep side hills and entering narrow canyons. Be cautious of thin ice. DO NOT travel in a storm. If visibility is reduced, follow your tracks back out. If caught in a white out, stay put until conditions improve. ReSpeCt wildlife Wintering elk, deer and small game animals depend on a minimal amount of food and shelter for survival during the harsh winter months. Disturbances to their habitat can be life threatening. Please observe all area wildlife closures, motorized vehicles are prohibited in these areas. Please report unusual wildlife activity or anyone violating the wildlife closures to the Forest Service or Fish and Game Department. Please keep your dogs on a leash when visiting these recreation areas. DO NOT harass wildlife. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Competitors race at Snowcross Arena, during annual events from January to March.
