Following on in the Salus tradition for innovation, reliability anduncompromising product quality, Salus Solar is committed to the environmentand the lifestyle of our customers. Our aim is to make solar affordable toeveryone. Salus Solar offer simple but very effective solar systems at anaffordable price, together with a full system design service and clean airproject analysis. The use of free solar energy to heat water and createelectricity is a simple but effective solution to help save money and to reducethe harmful carbon emissions that damage our planet. A quality solar systemthat is correctly installed will provide long, reliable service and with negligiblerunning costs, substantial savings year on year will be made against everincreasing annual fuel bills. For domestic, industrial, commercial andswimming pool installations, energy savings can be huge with initial costsrecovered very quickly.

Solar Benefits.• Saves House holders up to 350kg of CO2 per year.

• Reduces Home Energy Bills.

• 70% of a home’s hot water FREE from natural daylight.

• Added value to your property.

• Solar panels work below freezing point.

• 25 year guarantee

• 35 year system life expectancy.

• Pay back on solar thermal systems = 4 to 8 years.

WHY SOLAR THERMAL?

• By far the most abundant renewable energy source is solar power which

provides enough energy in 40 minutes to supply the worlds’ power

requirement for a whole year.

• Solar thermal technology is also the most popular alternative energy option

in the UK. With a regulatory force behind it and growing awareness of the

need for energy efficiency in the home amongst consumers, the demand

for solar will rise.

WHY PHOTOVOLTAIC?

• Photvoltaic will provide clean, reliable, affordable solar electricity for

domestic, commercial and industrial / agricultural properties.

• Produces no air pollution or hazardous waste.

• Salus offer system design, this will determine customer requirements of

solar electricity per property.

As active solar systems depend on the Sun as a source of

energy, it is important to look in a little more detail at the

amount of energy that we receive from the Sun in the UK.

This information will be useful not only for designing

solar systems (where the amount of solar radiation affects

the area of solar collector required) but also for correcting

the mistaken notion (that many people have) that we do

not receive sufficient solar energy in the UK for solar

systems to work effectively.

IS SOLAR THERMAL A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT IN THE UK?The UK enjoys around 60% of the Solar Radiation that you would expect to get at the Equator. This is sufficient to providethe average household with around 70% of their annual hot water requirements practically free of charge. A DTI monitoringprogramme has shown that on average some 18-20% of a household’s hot water requirements will be satisfied in even thedarkest days of January and December.

Solar radiation in the UK and IrelandThis map of the UK & Ireland shows the total average

solar radiation falling on 1m2 surface, inclined at 30° to

the horizontal, measured in kilowatt-hours.

Free energy! Many people believe that solar panels only work in the

summer, however this type of free energy is available throughout the year. From May to September Salus Solar can produce

100% of the energy required for heating your domestic water. Salus Solar collectors operate not just with direct sunlight, but

also diffused sunlight, so they even work on cloudy days.

On average Salus Solar can provide up to 70% of your hot water needs per year, for free!

Photovoltaic from SalusGrid-connected and Stand-alone systems

A solar energy system for generating electricity is a major investment. An investment inSalus is particularly profitable. Salus solar modules only use highly efficient solar cells. Theyare protected in the long term from even the harshest weather conditions by aglass / Tedlar laminate in the photovoltaic module. In addition, only inverters with at least 96% efficiency are available. This system efficiency guarantees maximum utilisation ofsolar energy, consistently high yields and thehighest possible return over many years.

NOVA Flat Panels from SalusSalus Solar Nova Flat Panels are designed for year round absorption of direct and diffusedradiation. Salus Solar Nova Panels combine high efficiency with premium design. Collectorscan be installed vertically or horizontally and can be used with thermosyphonic systems aswell as pump circulation systems. The heart of the collector is the full plate absorber witha highly selective surface. The collector is covered with a special safety glazing with low ironcontent that provides the maximum transmission of solar radiation. The Salus Solar NovaPanel is intended for hot water heating, alternative house heating and pool heating.

Technical Specifications

Flat PanelsThe construction of the Salus Solar panel is based on the long-term experience in the field of building solar collectors. Itboasts the highest efficiency in solar installation. The special construction of the frame means that the collector is rigid andsimulatnously tight, this prevents any moisture from getting inside the collector.

The absorber is made of copper sheet TiNOX® with high-selective titanium-quartz coating. The flattened tubes mean thatthe point of contact between the tubes and absorber is larger, this increases the thermal transmittance.

The mounting system is made of stainless steel and aluininium which enables quick and safe mouting on any roof andallows installation with any inclination angle.

The Salus Solar collectors meet the requirements of : PN-EN 12975, EN 12975. These tests were carried out in the InstituteITW Stuttgart according to RAL-UZ 73 for the certification with sign “Der Blaue Engel” (Blue Angel) that is granted by theFederal Government of Germany.

Depending on the needs and surface, there is a choice of collectors in vertical or horizontal versions. Collectors with smallerareas - 2,0 and 1,0m2 are available.

Salus offer full training and technical support so you can feelconfident with installation of our solar products.

TrainingFull training on how the systems work and perform will be givento installers and merchants by our technical staff.

Course ObjectiveThe objective of our courses is to enable candidates to select themost appropriate solar system for a building based onconsultation with the client regards their needs and demands.Salus will demonstrate safe and efficient installation of our fullrange of solar products.

Our courses includes:• Introduction to Solar heating• Solar collectors• Hot water storage and key installation issues• Preparing to install a solar water heating system• Layout and design of solar

water heating systems:• Control and power requirements• System commissioning and handover to client• Assessment

Funding for renewable technologiesThe UK Government provides grant funding for renewable

technologies. The Low Carbon Buildings Programme provides

grants to help local authorities and housing associations across

the UK with the capital costs of installing renewable

technologies.

Domestic energy efficiency funding schemesCarbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) Energy suppliers have

an obligation to reduce the use of energy in domestic

properties, under their Carbon Emissions Reduction Target

(CERT). This obligation manifests itself in a series of grants,

discounts and promotional schemes targeting householders and

social housing providers and offering access to a wide range of

energy efficiency measures (with the emphasis on those

measures that are most cost-effective).
