Demand Response (DR) : Introduction

Demand Response is a voluntary

program for reduction of instantaneous

power demand

Consumers participate for demand

curtailment when requested by discom

during periods of high system peak

demand or when the system stability

gets jeopardized.

Consumers can be incentivized for

reducing demand during events of

requests for carrying out DR program

Demand Response is an inclusive

program for the consumers, by the

consumers for benefit of society as

a whole

• Significant addition of EVs & charging stations is expected to happen in near future due to fallingprices and favourable government policy and related regulations.

• The discom network should be prepared to handle such upsurge capacities in scientific &economic manner for reliable operation of the network.

• Therefore, the potential impacts needs to be estimated for safe & reliable operation of thenetwork.

• GIZ, Germany is cooperating with India and has commissioned a project through the InternationalClimate Initiative of the German Govt. The study project ‘Indo-German Solar Partnership (IGSP) isfinanced by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development (BMZ) and implementedby GIZ through agencies PRDC / PManifold.

The study covers:-

• Overview of EV Integration worldwide.• Power quality assessment against the impact of EV & SRT penetration alongwith mitigation plan.• Impact of EV & SRT penetration on BYPL network (3-4 feeders).• Identification of suitable locations for possible EV Charging based on loading condition.• Network growth requirement of 1-2-5 year(s) horizon.

Proposal to land owning agencies for installation of Electric Vehicle charging infra:

• BYPL, as a utility, has taken a step forward in this direction to collaborate with

concerned stakeholders for promotion of e-mobility.

• We have already engaged with e-vehicle / rickshaw infra providers & O&M

agencies.

• We are now following up with land owning agencies for suitable parking land

for this purpose.

• We have also proposed to Railways, DMRC etc for earmarking of parking

spaces in their parking lots. We have requested EDMC also to earmark certain

parking spaces.

• Such initiatives can go a long way in adoption of EVs in Delhi & India.

EV 100 Membership

• EV 100 Membership: EV100 was launched by The Climate Group in 2017 to conveneglobal businesses committed to making electric vehicles (EVs) the new normal by2030.

• It sits alongside The Climate Group’s RE100 and EP100 initiatives, which aim tomainstream renewable electricity and energy productivity respectively.

• EV 100 members sign up to one or more of four commitments across their globaloperations by 2030:·

• By Joining EV 100 , BYPL has committed towards the following campaign goals by2030 :

EV Integration into directly controlled (Owned/Leased fleets) Supporting EV Uptake by staff(charging and information/incentives) Supporting EV uptake by customers (charging and information services) Under this BYPL has already starting procuring EVs and have already installed four

EV chargers.
