1 Overview When upgrading to NeoTrak 6.0.5 / SmartTrack 4.0.5, a specific sequence of events must be followed to ensure a successful installation. This guide will instruct you how to perform this upgrade in the proper order.
2 Upgrade Compatibility
NeoTrak Version 5.xx or higher
SmartTrack Version 3.xx or higher
3 Process
3.1 Make a Copy of the current database (Recommended)
1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data folder 2. Copy “NeoTrak (SmartTrack).mdf and NeoTrak (SmartTrack)_log.LDF files to desktop
3.2 Uninstall the current version
1. Select Start > Control Panel > Programs. Select “Uninstall a program”

2. Highlight “Palm Desktop”, and select “Uninstall”
3. Select “Yes” to confirm uninstall
4. Select “OK” to automatically close applications

5. When the Palm Desktop uninstall is completed, next highlight “NeoTrak (SmartTrack)”
and select “Uninstall”. Select “Yes” when prompted to confirm uninstall
6. Select “OK” to automatically close applications
** Note: Do not uninstall Microsoft SQL Server **
7. Restart the PC to complete the uninstallation

8. Next go to C:\Program Files\NeoTrak (SmartTrack), highlight the NeoTrak (SmartTrack) folder, right-click and select “Delete”
9. Repeat the process for the C:\Program Files\palmOne folder

3.3 Install the new version
1. Download the NeoTrak 6.0.5 (SmartTrack 4.0.5) from:
http://solutions.neopost.com/software 2. Navigate to the “setup.exe”, right-click and select “run as administrator”
3. From the Main Menu select “Install Products”

1. Select Start > All Programs > NeoTrak > SQL Express Wizard or SmartTrack > SQL

5. Browse to the downloaded NeoTrak (SmartTrack) folder, then navigate to Extras >
NeoTrak (SmartTrack) SQL Update Script folder, select the .sql file and click “Open”

7. When completed the following will be displayed:
8. Click “OK”, then “Exit”. This will complete the upgrade process. Launch the NeoTrak
(SmartTrack) application and confirm the version number is correct.
3.5 Additional Upgrade Notes
If utilizing a Pocket PC, the PPCWebservice must be uninstalled in Control Panel and re-installed from the new version. The PPCWebservice “setup.exe” is located in the downloaded NeoTrak (SmartTrack) \Pocket Track\PPCWebservice ver 1.1.4 folder
If utilizing a Pocket PC, a hard reset will need to be performed and the Pocket Track application installed onto the handheld device from the new version
Refer to the Service Guide in the SAS Resource kit for instructions on performing a hard reset on the handheld, as well as installing the PPCWebservice
