1 Object

This document is the procedure to follow in order to upgrade SeapiX software from Basil_E version to Basil_G

version. Extreme caution is required to succeed and avoid permanent damage to the system. The upgrade

shall be done by following the below procedures (same order). Before upgrading the system, please contact

iXBlue to check compatibility and receive all the upgrade pack.

4 Upgrade Procedures

The Basil_G upgrade consists in:

• BFU:

o Debian Linux OS update (Stretch 9.9.0)

o IXV software update (ixv-3.0.g-2025-amd64)

o New Web GUI software (seapix-web 1.0.12)

o New Record/Replay software (SeaNotify 1.0.0.0)

• VPU

o Surface Software Update (Setup_SeapiX_V8.6.4.12)

o New SeaNotify software (SeaNotify 1.0.0.0)

• SAU

o None

4.1 Important considerations

Before starting the upgrade, make sure:

• That you downloaded:

• Rufus software: https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.5/rufus-3.5p.exe

• Clonezilla ISO file: https://osdn.net/frs/redir.php?m=rwthaachen&f=clonezilla%2F71030%2Fclonezilla-live-2.6.1-25-amd64.iso

• Tools:

• TeamViewer Host: https://get.teamviewer.com/seapix

• Chrome offline installer: https://secure.ixblue.com/seapix/Tools/ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe

• [Basil_G Pack]: The SeapiX Basil_G upgrade package: https://secure.ixblue.com/seapix/

• That you can connect to the BFU

• A screen (with DVI cable)

• A keyboard (preferably USB, QWERTY)

• That you can allocate 2 USB sticks

• [USB_1]: One with at least 4 GB free space.

• [USB_2]: One with at least 500MB capacity (the content of this USB stick will be erased during the process).

If any of these elements is missing, please contact iXBlue and do not try to upgrade the

SeapiX software. Download all the necessary files before starting upgrading the system.

The VPU upgrade can be done remotely using TeamViewer©, do not hesitate to contact

iXBlue to plan the remote assistance.

4.2 Building the upgrade pack

4.2.1 Clonezilla bootable drive

Tools:

• [USB_2]

• Rufus software executable file

• Clonezilla ISO file

Process:

1. Start Rufus software

2. Connect [USB_2], you should see it appearing in Device

3. Click on Select and choose clonezilla-live-2.6.1-25-amd64.iso you have downloaded and choose

Clonezilla as name of the volume

4. Keep default settings and click on Start

5. Choose Write ISO image and click on OK

6. Click on OK

7. When it is completed, click on Close

8. You can eject safely the USB stick from the computer, it is ready.

4.2.2 SW key

Tools:

Process:

1. Copy into [USB_1]:

a. seaNotifySetup.msi

b. Setup_SeapiX_V8.6.4.11.exe

c. ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe

d. TeamViewer_Host_Setup.exe

2. Unzip:

a. BASIL_G-OCEANOS.zip → BASIL_G-OCEANOS

b. BASIL_G-TITAN2.zip → BASIL_G-TITAN2

c. BASIL_G-TITAN.zip → BASIL_G-TITAN

Make sure the unzipped folder is not adding a folder level i.e BASIL_G-xxxx folder shall not

contain BASIL_G-xxxx folder but directly the different files. This is usually managed by

slecting carefully the extraction folder (you can directly extract in your USB drive root

folder)

3. Copy into [USB_1]:

a. BASIL_G-OCEANOS

b. BASIL_G-TITAN2

c. BASIL_G-TITAN

Expected [USB_1] arborescence is:

4.3 BFU upgrade

Tools:

• [USB_1]

• [USB_2]

• Screen

• Keyboard

Process:

1. Make sure the ITU and BFU are turned off

2. Connect the screen and keyboard into the BFU

3. Connect [USB_2] into the BFU

4. Power on the BFU. Clonezilla automatically boots (GNU GRUB window)

If it doesn’t boot on the Clonezilla drive, restart the BFU and press DEL until you access the

BIOS menu where you can define the boot order (put boot #1 for Clonezilla drive)

If the Clonezilla drive is not recognized, use another USB port from BFU

5. Select Clonezilla live (Default settings, …)

6. Select en_US.UTF-8 English

7. Select Keep the default keyboard layout

8. Select Start Clonezilla

9. Select device-image work with disks or partitions using images

10. Select local_dev

11. Connect [USB_1] and wait for 5s

12. Press Enter to continue. Wait until you see [USB_1] name in the list (the name will be the

manufacturer one / not “USB_1”). In our example, this is My_Passport drive.

If the USB stick is not recognized, try to use another USB port on BFU.

13. Press CTL+C

14. Select the USB stick containing the BFU disk image. You should recognize your USB stick name (still

My_Passport in our example)

15. Do not click on Enter at this stage, highlight / Top_directory_in_the_local_device and press Tab key

until you can select <Done>, then press Enter.

16. Press Enter

17. Select Beginner…

19. At this stage, make sure you identify your BFU type. There are currently three BFU models which can

be easily identified by looking at the rear plate:

a. TITAN:

20. Select:

a. EITHER BASIL_G-TITAN if your BFU is TITAN model

b. OR BASIL_G-TITAN2 if your BFU is TITAN2 model

c. OR BASIL_G-OCEANOS if your BFU is OCEANOS model

21. Select the BFU HDD

22. Select Yes, check the image before restoring

23. Select -p choose

24. Press Enter to continue

25. In order to confirm the action, type y and press Enter to continue

28. Select Poweroff

29. After BFU shutdown, remove [USB_1] and [USB_2]

30. Power on the BFU and check that the screen displays logs similar to [HH:MM:SS]

4.4 VPU upgrade

4.4.1 Surface Software Upgrade

Tools:

• [USB_1]

Process:

1. Connect [USB_1] into the VPU

2. Stop SeapiX software

3. Open a window explorer and go into C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX directory

4. Backup the Settings, Outputs and Data folders located in the C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX directory

5. Delete C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\Setting and C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\Outputs directory

6. Copy the Setup_SeapiX_V8.6.4.12.exe file from [USB_1] in C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX directory

7. Run the Setup_SeapiX_V8.6.4.12.exe file

8. Select your installation language (does not have any effect on the SeapiX software language)

9. Click on Next

10. Configure the installation folder as C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\SeapiX_V8.6.4.12 and click on Next

12. Enter the ship and station name and click on Next

13. Select SeapiX 3D Sounder and click on Next

16. When the installation is done, do not tick Launch SeapiX and click on Finish

17. Copy the license files (ixblue.lcs and ixblue.lic) from C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\SeapiX_V8.6.4.3 to

C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\SeapiX_V8.6.4.12 folder

4.4.2 SeaNotify installation

2. In the C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\ folder, copy the seaNotifySetup.msi file from [USB_1]

4.4.3 Chrome Installation

We recommend to use Chrome Browser to access the SeapiX web interface (192.168.16.9:8989)

2. In the C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\ folder, copy ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe file from [USB_1]

3. Run the ChromeStandaloneSetup64.exe

4.4.4 TeamViewer Installation

To enable remote assistance from iXBlue support, a TeamViewer Host module shall be installed on the VPU. If

it is not already the case (TeamViewer Host icon shown in the notification area of Windows OS), please

proceed with the following installation.

5. In the C:\IXBLUE\SeapiX\ folder, copy the TeamViewer_Host_Setup.exe file from [USB_1]

6. Run the TeamViewer_Host_Setup.exe

7. Don’t check Show advanced settings and click on Next

8. Select Company / Commercial use and click on Next

9. Check I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement and click on Next

10. Few seconds later the TeamViewer wizard appears. Click on Next

11. Fill computer name field with the vessel name and set ixblue as password / confirm password then

click on Next

12. The vessel ID is displayed. Click on Next

14. The Host interface appears. Click on OK

15. This interface can be opened from the notification area of Windows OS.

4.5 Upgrade verification

Process:

1. Start the BFU and make sure the ITU starts (if not check the command link cable and connection)

2. Start the VPU and run the SeapiX Surface Software

3. If the Start button is blue, you are ready to run BASIL_G software, enjoy!

4. To use SeaNotify, click on SeaNotify icon from VPU desktop
